Obituary

Passed peacefully away at home on the morning of Thursday, 21 February 2019, Dr. Joseph Cowan Craig, Radiologist at the former Grace Hospital in St. John’s and Captain William Jackman Memorial Hospital in Labrador City, aged 85 years.  Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 58 years Mavis; sister Joan in England; sons Joseph (Michelle), Robert (Polly), Donald, Christopher (Tanya) and Andrew; grandchildren Julia, Myla, Brendan and Aiden and many other relatives and friends.  Cremation has taken place.

As requested, there will be no visitation or service.  To honour his memory, a donation may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of one’s choice.

Mavis & Family, so sorry to hear of Dr. Craig’s passing . I have many great memories of our days at the Grace Hospital. I will be thinking of your family during this very difficult time.

So very sorry to hear of Dr. Craig’s passing.
I worked with Dr.Craig at the Grace from1978 until 2000.
He was a great radiologist to work with.
Things I remember about Dr.Craig-he would tell us about his vacations to Portugal with Mavis,he was a small plane pilot and we shared the same wedding anniversary date!

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Craig’s passing. I worked with him at the Grace Radiology Dept. from 1967 to 2000 ,when the “Grace” ceased to exist. We worked hard ,had lots of fun and we all became great friends.
He was a true gentleman and a dedicated radiologist .
I consider myself fortunate to have worked with Dr. Craig for so many years.
I offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the loss of Joe.My wish is that God will give you the strength you need to get through this as I very well know how close you both were as a couple .Look back on all your wonderful memories with Joe and smile because you had them. A Man of Distinguished Humanity.
