Leaving to mourn with heavy hearts her sister Irene Ryan (Keating), and her children: daughters – Joan Mesher (Victor Mesher), Elizabeth McDonald, Wanda McDonald, Elaine McDonald, Darlene McDonald (Georgie Foley), Madonna Kelly, Son – Theodore McDonald, daughter in law Dora McDonald. 16 Grandchildren – Regina, Craig, Jeff, Neil, Tina, Christina, Denise, Curtis, Natasha, Melissa, Angela, Corina, Shawn, Sera, Kevin, Kaylee and spouses. Her family meant everything to her. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was the most loving, caring, kind, strong woman you could meet. Her door was always open for her family and friends. From a chat, to a meal (oh b’y could she cook!) to words of comfort. In troubled times she always made you feel safe, loved, and welcome. There was nothing that woman couldn’t do and do it well! She gave it 100% all the time, even when she was tired, she just kept going. There were times I don’t know how she did it. She was loved and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She was an angel on earth. We all love you and miss you.

Visitation will be held at Carnell’s 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, December 31 from 10am-3pm and 5-9pm, and Friday, January 1 from 10am-3pm and 5-7pm.  Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 2 at 11am with interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her son Weldon.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest condolences to all family and friends.

My eulogy for mom, read by my sister Darlene , since I can’t be there……..

Hello everyone, My name is Joan, I’m one of Marie’s daughters.I can’t be with my family today in body but I’m there in spirit…
Thank you for coming today to celebrate and honour an amazing woman, Sister ,Grandmother , Great Grandmother but most of all my Mom!!!
I know she would be great full, but would also say,” why all this fuss over me”. She never liked when we would fuss over her. She always said “ don’t go spending your money on me, get something for yourself. We loved doing things for her and having get togethers especially for her birthday or just any occasion. We enjoyed giving her things because we could see the light in her eyes shine with love and gratitude. Even the smallest thing she cherished.
She gave her family so much throughout her life , that I think she never really knew how much she gave or how grateful we are to have her as our mom.
She would always be knitting’s or sewing things for us, everything she made was made with love…Her heart and soul was in everything she did. I will always remember the picnics we went on and the times we had weather it was happy or sad.
Still to this day she always mentioned how when I was growing up, I always followed her everywhere wanting to be held in her arms, that I never wanted to let her go. I always felt the safest there… Well today is the day that I won’t have you to hold me anymore or kiss me and give me that big bear hug you always gave and always wanted one more.. The day you passed away, my beautiful mother was the day my heart broke in a million pieces. I would give anything to have that one more hug, to be held in your arms.
I am grieving for the amazing relationship we had and I am so honoured to have been your daughter. I hope I have what we did , with my children. Keep shining on us and until we meet again. You’ll be with me forever…love you mom…
