Alexander (Alex) Peet Shields Sr.

November 19, 1922 – June 14, 2018

Passed away after a brief illness at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 at the age of 95.  Predeceased by his wife Irene, his daughter Carol, son Alex, brothers David and Jim. Left with fond and loving memories and to celebrate his life are his Grandchildren Stephen Blackwood (Kelly), Stacey Carroll (Francis), Stephanie Blackwood (Arthur), Alexia Williams (Hank), and Brad Shields (Kerry Lynn), son-in-law Jeff Blackwood, daughter-in-law Judy Lockyer Shields, and nine Great-Grandchildren: Makenzie, Katelyn, Lauren, Caroline, Cadence, Grace, Mia, Charley and Jordyn.  Also remembered by his brothers Jack and Bob, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Special thanks to the nursing staff at 7East for all of their wonderful care, support and kindness. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitations on Saturday, June 16th from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm, and Sunday, June 17th from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm.  Service to be held at Carnell’s Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 18th at 11:00am.  Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Alex’s memory may be made to the Janeway Children’s Foundation.

Alex was a strong, caring, kind and true gentleman who had a passion for music and loved to be in the company of family and friends for song and dance.  He will be forever remembered and loved.

To the Family of the Late Alexander Shields, Sr.:

I met Mr. Shields when Carol passed as she and I attended Holloway School and PWC together. What a beautiful person he was, so friendly as is all of his family.
