Obituary

Annie Christie MacDonald, our beloved Chrissy, passed peacefully away on November 14th after almost 92 extraordinary years.

Many left this earth before her, including her husband Gordon, her brother-in-law David, and most of their bridge club. All were constant companions in our lives. We miss them all.

Left with fond and loving memories her daughter Marjorie, her sons Gord and Sandy, and their partners Doug (Munn), Sandra and Kevin (Angel) as well as her grandchildren of whom she was so proud Thomas, Sarah and her oldest grandchild Alexandra who coined ‘‘Chrissy’’ which now seems to have always been her name.

She was a mother, grandmother and friend to all those she considered our family. Chrissy made this a big group and it included Alec, Nancy, Sandy, Heather, Harry, and Peter Hickman, Anne Williams, the Murrays and the Chisholm’s. She loved her sister Betty fiercely and her children Jennifer, Greg and Jeff who were like her own.

Many others were important to her. Many were her students.  They sought her counsel, or were given it whether they asked for it or not.

Chrissy was a force of nature. She loved life to the fullest along with the people around her. She loved her garden and she loved to cook. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary. Every party was the “best party ever”.

Chrissy showed us how to enjoy life, how to bring beauty into our homes and how to fill our lives with friends and companionship.  We hope that we are wise enough to accept these extraordinary gifts.

Thank you to all the staff at Kenny’s Pond for their care and compassion.

As per her wish cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The MacDonald’s Family
I am very sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. Having worked with your Dad at the PUB I have lots of great memories of them both, from your Mom’s lunches at their home, their beautiful rose garden; the beautiful roses she would send to the office, and the Christmas Ornaments that they gave me over the years that continue to bring a smile and great memories each year. She was a beautiful lady and very proud of her family. May the many memories that you have help you through this difficult time.

Geordie, Sandy and Marjorie
Your mother was the centre of the Rostellan circle community that we all grew up in. I know that my parents would not have bought 13 without your mom’s encouragement. Later when my parents moved to 10 we would see your mom when visiting them and she was very kind to my wife Debbie and especially to my daughter Sarah. Fond memories and condolences from Sarah, Deborah and Keith Parsons

Marjorie, Gordon, Sandy and family

She was indeed a positive influence and role model for all her students during her teaching career and they loved her dearly.

Marjorie, Sandy and Gord
Our sincere condolences on the passing of Chrissy. She truly was a force of nature , educating a generation , looking after her students well being ( including their families) and connecting those in need to those who could help. My mother looked forward to her visits for tea as a Rostellan staple as was her Christmas cooking.. She involved herself with her neighbours and friends and looked out for them. She lived life to the full helping to make many people smile along the way. God Bless. Ean and Jane Parsons

A special teacher that had an amazing impact /influence in my life (early/mid 60’s at Bishops College.)

She got me my first full time job at the Royal Bank Main Branch, Water St.

Babysitting you guys was a pleasure as well.

It was only a day or so before the passing of your mom that I had a chat with Mrs Hickman (whom I babysat Sandy as well) and Jane Crosbie on Kenny’s Pond walk..All my thoughts/ conversation led to ,” how is Christine doing”??

Did ask Mrs Hickman to pass on my regards .

Oh my…bless you all as you grieve your precious Mom. She was the epitome of “fashionista” enjoying a glamorous wardrobe complete with matching shoes…& lest we forget the artistic jewellery! She had an amazing sense of humour! She LOVED her children & family fiercely; it was evident by the heartwarming stories she shared. Although my heart is also broken, I find comfort knowing she lived a very full life surrounded by a delightful family & a magnificent circle of friends…”Miss Chrissy” will be dearly missed and always remembered…

Thinking of you all at this difficult time.
Bless…♥️♥️♥️

Mary Lynn & I met Chrissy at Silver Sands in St. Pete Beach in 2012. We formed a fast friendship that included secret drinks by the pool & an occasional dinner. Best of all though was how Chrissy made us & everybody else around her laugh. It was so much fun to be in her company. Our sincere condolences to all of the MacDonald family.
