Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara “Barb” Hawkins at the age of 78. Barb passed away suddenly, at home, on Sunday, September 20, 2020.
Leaving to mourn her loss are her three children Marie Hawkins -Vancouver, Diane Squires – St. John’s, and Stephen Hawkins (Kelly) – Calgary; four grandchildren Robert and Curtis Squires, Evan and Lauren Hawkins; three siblings Sandra Boggan (Gerry), Mary “Peg” Edwards, and Paul Babstock, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Barb was predeceased by her mother Lillian Dohey and stepfather Albert Babstock, sister June Ross (nee Boggan) and brothers Dave and Bob “Butch” Babstock.
Mom was gifted with a playful sense of humour, had the patience of a saint, and a sense of independence to match it. Certainly, she never wanted anyone to make a fuss; she is missed dearly and will be remembered lovingly forever.

Just heard of Barb’s passing my deepest condolences on the loss of your mom. I lived at Kelly’s Brooke Apartment and Barb use to sit next to me at bingo and use to come out and sit in the library in the evenings with us.. Barb was a very nice lady so kind and never had a harsh word to say about anyone.. RIP Barb
So sad to hear of your mom’s passing. I have fond memories of the times I met her. She was always so cheerful. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Steve and Family: I have lovely memories of Carpasian Rd. as a kid. Whether we were making a racket in the basement or staying up late during a sleepover, Mrs. Hawkins would always make me feel welcome. I know she is missed, and want to express my condolences. Mr deepest and sincere condolences to the Hawkins family. Barb was definitely a most independent lady, and as sad as it is that she is gone, she really did it her way. She is at peace now.

I worked with Barb at Telelink (Answer Telephone) one thing I remember fondly was her sense of humor. We had some great laughs and conversations. Though I hadn’t seen her in 20 years I often thought of her. So sorry for your loss may she rest in peace.
