Obituary

Our wife, mother, grandmother, dear friend, Bertha Skinner, entered peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on March 31, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by her daughters Rosalyn and Hazel; parents John and Mae Bragg; brothers John and Cecil. Leaving behind to remember her beautiful smile and warm memories her husband of 61 years, Lewis; daughters Carolyn (Randy) Boland, Dinah (Randy) Brennan, Susan (Bill) Huryn, Shirley Skinner, Paula (Joe) Rosa-Bian and Tanya (Steven) Holden; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; sisters Marilyn (Doug) MacDonald and Phyllis (Wayne) Holloway; also, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the Nurses and staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home 3 East, for the compassion shown towards Bertha during her stay. Also, Rev. Canon Amanda Taylor for her support. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday April 2 and Tuesday April 3 from 11-9 p.m. and Wednesday April 4 from 10-12 Noon. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday April 4 from St. Lawrence Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m. with internment to follow at the St. Lawrence Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bertha’s memory may be made to St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove or St. Patrick’s Mercy Home.
