Hi Laura, I am so sad to hear of your mom’s passing. I just found out about it this evening. If I had known I definitely would have attended the service. I enjoyed my time working with her at the Dept .Of Education. I especially enjoyed the times you and I would go to Bonavista. She loved her grandchildren so much. My very best wishes to you, your Dad and your sisters. I hope you are all doing well.
My sincere condolences.
Judy Kennedy

I was so saddened to hear of Brenda’s death. I knew Brenda many years ago through our work in Special Education, and remember her kindness, warmth and professionalism. Happily, I ran into her again a few times this year, and we always enjoyed sharing stories of our children and grandchildren. The last time we saw each other was at a show at the LSPU Hall this summer. She was such an important part of her daughters’ and grandchildren’s lives. My heart goes out to you all,

Dear Wayne and girls and Brenda’s siblings,
Brenda and I spent long hours together when in high school. We were always in the same class and had similar interests. We lived close (the Greene’s were on First Avenue) so we walked home together most days and spent time in each other’s homes – such fun days of our lives. Brenda always excelled in school and had a love of learning but never lauded it over her classmates and remained ever popular with her kind spirit and quick smile. We reconnected for a while when she and Wayne and the girls moved to Barrhaven for a couple of years and my husband Robert and I were in Ottawa. Unfortunately we lost her again to the draw of St. John’s so we have only met from time to time in latter years when I have been home on visits. Now I have lost her forever. I am very saddened but so glad for the joy of our friendship over the years. My love to you all.

Dear Wayne, Laura, Anna, Megan and your families,

Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts at this difficult time. Brenda was a true lady, full of warmth and kindness. I have many fond memories of the times our families spent together over the years. Sending all my love,

She spoke often about her family so we got to know a lot about her beautiful daughters and husband. She loved you all so very much. Take good care and God Bless you all!

Wayne and family,
Paul and I were extremely sad to hear that Brenda had passed away. When I first met Brenda in the late 60’s, I immediately thought she was one of the nicest people I’d ever met. She was one of those “genuine” people, warm and funny, with a great smille and a huge enjoyment of life. In the years since then, it was always great fun to get together with both of you at the annual DBS dinners. We’ll always miss her. Hugs to you and the girls.

Wayne and family, please accept our heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences. Brenda gave us the hope, inspiration and courage to stay positive while living each day. You are in our thoughts and prayers. She was a kind and beautiful person who inspired many. May her eternal rest be peaceful.

Dear Wayne and family,
Very sorry to hear Brenda’s passing. There are no words that can ease your loss and pain. Brenda will always be remembered in our minds as a gorgeous, most graceful, soft-spoken, smart and caring person.
Her smile , her gentle voice will stay with us all.
Amy and Ray

Wayne my heart is broken. I will always remember Brenda with her huge smile and her keen interest in what was happening with me and the girls. We are now kindred spirits who have experienced the same sadness on life’s journey. The darkness eventually lifts and the sun will begin to shine once again. Peace to you.

No one better than God, understands the depth of your pain and can help you cope with your disquieting thoughts. I hope that in due time your family receives God’s peace that excels all thought, so that it will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. God is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. Rest assured that God cares for all his creatures and he would never bring us suffering. A soothing scripture I like is Psalm 34:18 which reads: “Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” He promised that in the Paradise, we will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all problems, accidents, and sickness. Even our dead loved ones like Brenda will be resurrected. (Psalm 37:9, 29; John 5:28, 29) With all my sympathy for the loss of someone so cherished

Bob & I send our sincere condolences to Wayne and family on Brenda’s passing.

Dear Smith Family: I have wonderful memories of Brenda at Holy Heart of Mary when we were both in the orchestra. She was gifted and talented and I am so glad she shared them as teacher and educator. You are blessed to have her as wife, Mom, and Nanny. There are no words to ease the pain of loss but to know that others care. In the midst of sorrow, I celebrate her life and the difference she made in our world.

Megan, Anna and family-so sorry to hear of your moms passing. Thinking of you all during the difficult days ahead.

So sad to hear of Brenda’s passing. She was my Director when I worked at the Dept of Ed in the early 2000s. Brenda was a caring mentor who coached and supported me through a steep learning curve. As a boss, she was open, engaged, and always had a pleasant, smiling demeanour. Through many difficult Educational decisions, her bottom line was always whatever was in the best interest of the child. She felt a deep concern for, and responsibility to, the children affected by Educational policy. She talked about her own girls daily and it was easy to tell how much she loved them and was proud of them. Her kind, positive influence to everyone who knew her will be sadly missed.

Meg, Anna and family,
So sorry for your loss. Thinking of you at this difficult time.

Wayne, I’m in shock to read about Brenda’s passing. I’m in Calgary at the moment but rest assured I’ll carry all of you in my heart. Take good care of each other. With understanding sympathy, Pat Roberts
