Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donald (Don) Carl Mills on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the age of 84. Pre-deceased by his parents Edgar and Elsie Mills, brother Harvey, sister Myrtle Fell, and infant daughter Donna. Left to mourn with loving memories are his wife of 62 years, Elsie; his children: Sandi Mercer (Freeman), Judy Webb (David), Shelley Porter (Robert), Sherry Churchill (Fraser), and David (Marcia); his grandchildren: Michael (Alison), Shauna (Connor), Angie (Norm), Andrew (Jen), Jordan, Jonathan, Jessica, Stephen, Kristen, Benjamin, Timothy, Darby, Matthew and Denver; great-grandson Finn; and many friends and relatives. Don loved the Lord and knowing he is with our Heavenly Father gives us great comfort and we look forward to seeing him again. Viewings will be at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, June 24th, 2017 from 7-9 PM, and Sunday, June 25th, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service to be held at Faith Bible Chapel, 43 Kenmount Road, at 2 PM Monday, June 26th, 2017, with interment to follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Had the pleasure of working with Don and learned a lot from him….it was a pleasure and an honor to know him. Sincere condolences to the family. RIP.

Had the pleasure of working on my 1st job for Don at the Avalon Mall, he was quite the character, very willing to help a young tradesman like myself in 1982. May he rest in peace

I am so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. I had the priviledge of working with him during the early days of my career at the Avalon Mall. Whenever you met Don he always greeted you with a smile and chuckle. I remember him as a warm and friendly man who cared deeply for his family.. very sorry to here of the passing of my uncle don.seems like we were talking just a short time ago.what a great loss to all who knew and loved him.my sincere condolences to my aunt and cousins.

Elsie and family…I am so saddened to hear this news on Don…Don worked with me at Avalon until his retirement…we had great memories. There were many times I’d bump into him and we would have a grand chat…he always spoke highly of his family..I’m sure he will be missed so much….

Mrs. Mills and family,
We were thinking of you all as we first heard the news of Mr. Mills’ heart attack. Our deepest sympathy to each of you on his passing. I always looked forward to his smile and warm hug whenever I was back for a visit. He certainly lived life to the fullest. It was obvious how much he loved Mrs. Mills and all his family. We know he is in the Lord’s presence now and that we will see him again in heaven. Trust that will bring you great comfort during this time of great sadness.
