Obituary

After a short battle with cancer Ted (Edgar) Caines, aged 73, passed peacefully away on Wednesday, January 23 surrounded by his loving family. Ted is predeceased by his parents Jack and Sadie Caines; sister Annie; niece Heather McGrath and nephew Blair Greening. He is lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 50 years Ros (nee Blackwood); sons Jarrett (Lynette) and Chad (Jackie); grandsons Brennan and Ciaran; sister Sandra Taylor (Gus deceased); brothers Tom (Ruth) and John (Nancy), and host of Blackwood in-laws. He is also remembered by special friends Warren and Dolores Puddester and partner in crime Glenn Greening; also, a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. After retiring from the SJRFD with 25 years of service Ted took on a one-month position at Battlefield Equipment at Tom’s suggestion; His multitude of skills turned that one month into 20 years. Ted was well known for his love of wine making which he freely shared with friends and family alike. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Ted’s memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada and Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.

Sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

We just recently heard of Ted passing. Such sad news Condolences to Roz and his family. Lots of fond firehall memories. May he rest in peace.

Roz and Family, Please accept our sincere condolences, Having worked with Ted for 20 years at Battlefield I can only say he was a gentleman in every way, and was very well respected by his peers and everyone who had any dealings with him. you can be sure he will be missed by all of us.

We were so sorry to read about Ted’s passing. Having moved to Ontario 1 1/2 years ago we did not know that he had been sick. Bob really enjoyed the many chats that he and Ted had at Battlefield. Our deepest condolences to you and your family.
