Obituary

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at St. Clare’s at the age of 77, Ella Ross Lucas (nee Peddle) from St. John’s, originally Leading Tickles.  Predeceased by parents John and Lucy Peddle, sister Florilla and brother-in-law Sam, children Allen and Donnie, grandchild Cameron, and daughter-in-law Margaret. She will be lovingly remembered and cherished by husband of 56 years, Fred, children Rodney (Jackie), Lisa (Craig), Steve, Wendy (Terry); daughters-in-law Janet and Natasha; grandchildren Randy, Cora, Chelsey, Emily, Jennifer, Matthew, Mackenzie and Jason; great-grandchildren Bentley and David; sister Lila (Frank), brother Gerald (Joyce), and a large circle of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends, including special friends Chatty Preston and Olive Sansom.  Special thank you to the dialysis unit who were like a second family to her, keeping her comfortable and entertained while meeting her medical needs.  Heartfelt thanks to the many homecare workers who cared for Ella over the years, with special thanks to Helen, Flo, and Tammy.  Ella was the centre of her family unit, was known for her kind soul, her faith in God, her homemade quilts, love of laughter and family.  She will be dearly missed.  Cremation will take place followed by a private family service on Wednesday, July 22nd.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ella’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

The LucasFamily. Our sincere condolences. Ella sat next to us in Church and what a lovely voice she had singing the hymns. Always had a smile a lovely lady. Lovely memories. Bill & Lorna Martin.

We are thinking of you, the Lucas family, at your time of loss., and remembering fondly the wonderful woman that Mrs. Lucas was. Take care of each other.

On behalf of the entire CLB, I offer sincere condolences to the Lucas family. We remember Mrs. Lucas as a kind and gentle soul.. She was a treasured supporter of our organization, to the benefit of the many young people in our organization.. For that we are very grateful. We will miss her very much, particularly at our annual Family Banquet at St. Augustine’s Company, where she often joined us to present the Sgt. Donald Lucas Memorial Award. May she Rest In Peace.

I did not know Mrs Lucas personally, however, I did know her son very well through the
C.L.B. where he was an excellent member, and paid the supreme price for his country. I can only believe, that she was a wonderful lady and Christian, that causes my heart to go out to the whole Lucas family at this time of sorrow
