Obituary

Passed away suddenly, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, on Saturday, September 17, 2016, Eric Ivan Giles, aged 73 years. Predeceased by his parents Wilson and Lillian Giles, brother Earl Giles, sister Louise Bazilsky, brother in law, Morrie Bazilsky , parents-in-law Thomas and Priscilla Drover, sister in-law Irene Sheppard, and sister in-law Edna Giles. Leaving with loving memories, his wife of 51 years, Linda; daughter Kim (Gary Randell), son Trevor (Katrina); grandchildren John, Kaylee, Erikson and Ariana. Brothers Randell, Perry (Elizabeth); sisters Netha (Ron Stone), Lorraine (Gordon Andrews), Sandra (Keith Green), Carol (Wayne Reid) and Jeanette (Tom Osbourne). Siblings in law: Jack Sheppard, Albert & Marie Drover, Edwin & Regina Drover, Aidan & Ann Drover, John & Joan Lane, Aubrey and Bev Drover, Mary & Neil French, Mildred & Derick Guzzwell, Brenda & Dave Vardy; special friends Olive & Clarence Stacey along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the Upper Island Cove emergency responders, Dr. Rebecca Powell and the staff at the Carbonear General Hospital, Dr. Melvin and the ICU staff and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, for their care and support. Visitation to take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road.  A family visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m.  and Public visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, Military Road, on Wednesday September 21 st ,2016 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at The Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation.

So very sorry for the loss of Eric, a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.
