Very shocked and saddened to learn a few minutes ago of Ervie’s passing. I worked with Ervie on !B at the CNHRC and she was an amazing and compassionate nurse. It was a pleasure to have worked with her andI am sorry to say thatI had lost touch with her over the years. after moving away. There’s no doubt in my mind that she’s still the angel she always was and is taking care of others . Rest in Peace Ervie.

I only remember both of you as young children but we do share a strong common bond- your parents and grandparents!! And what a heritage you have!!
I last spoke with your mom at the nursing alumni dinner in June when she so proudly celebrated her 50 year milestone!! We looked for each other every year.

Today as you gather to celebrate the life of your mother, may the many treasured memories be a source of laughter and happiness. Words fail at a time like this. Aunt Ervie will be greatly missed by those who had the good fortune to know her. I have so many memories of her kindness, storytelling skills, and a laugh that would always bring a smile to my face. While comforted by the fact that she is now in the presence of her Savior my heartfelt sympathies go out to Melanie, David Jr., their families and the countless family members and friends who are feeling the sting of her loss. Thoughts and prayers.

Melanie & David (Jr.) & families, my heart was broken to hear of your mom’s passing. I have countless fond memories with you all. Your parents were an integral part of my childhood, teen and into my adult years. Godly influences on my life who taught me so much! Your mom was like a second mom to me. Your home a second home. I loved her so much and knew she loved me. I will cherish each memory. In one of my last times with her while visiting St. John’s she told me she missed Mr Jean’s so much and looked forward to the day that she would see him again. That day has come and she is with him and Her Saviour who she served. I am so thankful that I/we have the same Hope of seeing them both again. My love and prayers are with you all and wish I could be there.

Ervie was a friend and nursing colleague and we celebrated many special occasions with her . She was kind and thoughtful, witty and funny.
We celebrate her life and the impact she made. My thoughts and prayers are with Melanie and David and their families. She is at a peace beyond our understanding.

Melanie, David, Barbara, Paul, and Families.
Please accept our sincerest sympathy on the passing of your loved one. One can only imagine the joy as she stepped on the celestial shore. She lived for the day when heaven would be her final home. Our many phone conversations, and also when we were privileged to visit with her were times when she would express Her love for her family . She always spoke so highly of you. Today, she is in the presence of Jesus. If she were to speak to us today, maybe these would be the words that she would say – “Just wait until you see me I’ve been made over brand new. I’ve been walking with Jesus all heaven to view. There’s no more sickness, no more sorrow, no more burdens to bear. Just wait until you see me with Jesus up here”.
Take courage that the Word of God is still the anchor that grips the solid rock – His name is Jesus. Find rest, peace, and contentment in the Rock of the ages.
Praying for you.

To Ervies family and friends.
As you celebrate the life and legacy do so with thanks giving for hers was the life that spoke volumes. Her heart of compassion and her hands that moved in kindness may both lie still but her life is remembered as one shared with and lived for others. Now she will rest beside her Prince until ressurection morning. Praying for you each one.

David and Melanie and Families

To Melanie and David,
So very sorry and sad to hear the news about your mom. I had the privilege of working with her for a short time at Brampton Christian school. I spent time with your mom and dad at their home in Grand-Falls Windsor on my first visit to Newfoundland. Your mom was a lovely lady who had a big heart. She had the greatest stories which always made me laugh. I know you will miss her greatly. Praying that God will give you the peace and comfort needed to get through the next few days and weeks. I wish I could be at the Celebration of Life service. My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow.

To the Jeans family, So very sorry for the loss of your precious loved one, our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time . Ervie was indeed a lovely lady! Pauline and Garry.

I knew Ervie from training and we always had a chat when we met. She was a lovely person. I am very sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Sandra Cossar Nightingale.

To Melanie and David, all of her family.
For two and a half years, we lived together in residence during our nurses training. We’ve become good friends again in the past 12 years and have had many good times together. She was a “people person” and cared for everyone she met. A great lady and I’m gonna miss her a lot! BUT:
“We shall not all sleep (die) but we shall all be CHANGED in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.”
“The dead in Christ (that includes Ervie) will rise first. Then we which are alive will be CAUGHT UP (RAPTURED) with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord!”
What a glorious reunion that will be! Then we’re gonna have a big feast. It’s called the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. I’m so looking forward to that!

Our most sincere condolences on the loss of your dear mom, grandmother, mother-in-law and sister. We are shocked and deeply saddened by her passing. She will be forever in our memory of the times spent with her and all the phone calls we shared. Ervie has been a close friend for 45+ years and our families lived near to each other in Windsor as our children grew up. She has been a wise friend to us who gave good advice when needed, especially with her Nursing training and experience. In recent years, we appreciated the many occasions we spent time visiting with Ervie at her home in St. John’s. Also, we are so blessed to have spent time with her just a few short weeks ago … always good conversation and many a laugh! We will cherish those memories and hold them dear. Ervie was a beautiful soul who loved her God and her family very much. As our youngest granddaughter said in her prayers last night “I pray for Mrs. Ervie that she will have a good time in Heaven!” May God’s peace and comfort fill your hearts in this time of sorrow. We share in your grief, but not as those without hope, for joy comes in the morning. Hugs!

Louise & Ralph

Melanie and the Jeans Family:
We are so sorry to hear of Ervie’s sudden passing. Her quiet and friendly personality was a blessing to all who knew her.Our connection started in Port-de Grave, attending the same church in the 1950’s and in particular when she was a student during my short teaching career. She was a model student in every way, and in later life a model in her community. She will be greatly missed.
But, you can all go forward with many pleasant memories of the great human being she was.
Our prayers are with you all at this time as we pass along our sympathy

To all of Ervie loved ones and family.
I first met Ervie when she was my roommate in Nurses Training.over 50 years ago. Although we have been separated by many miles, the times we have met up and through long distance phone calls, have been so special and precious. She was an amazing true friend. and I cherish every memory.
I was so shocked to hear the news of her passing but rejoice that she has now gone home for Christmas to meet her Lord.

To David, Donna, Paulette and the Jeans Family: We have many wonderful memories of Ervie. It was in the sixties that our friendship began when she came to Long Pond to start her nursing program in St. John’s. She was an example of Christ in all her ways. We had many fun times together. When we found our soul mates, she was one of my bridesmaids. Even tho we weren’t in close contact over the years we knew it only took a phone call to rekindle the relationship. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Ervie’s passing. We pray that the peace of God will be with you all during this time. We are sorry that we cannot join you in person in Ervie’s celebration since we are in Alberta. Love Dave and Judy Mercer

Her desire for her children was for them to serve God and be a Christian example to their children. Be encouraged, you will meet your mom again if you hold to your chikd like faith. God bless.
