Florence Mary Connors (nee Murphy)

March 28, 1928 to August 17, 2020

Obituary

Surrounded by her loving family, Florence Connors passed peacefully following a short illness on August 17, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Connors, her parents Bridget (Dobbin) and Francis D. Murphy, sisters Marion (Ted Noftall) and Catherine, and brothers John and her twin Frank (Louise). Florence is survived by her children: Margo (Robert Stack), Mark, Tom (Susan Marrie), and Kathleen (Sean Kelly); her treasured grandchildren Sean (Ashley), David (Erica) and Conor (Julia) Stack; Ian and Colin Connors; and Jennifer and Liam Kelly; and the little ones, her great-grandchildren: Owen, Rebecca, Nolan, Ellis, Rory, Maggie and baby Fiona.  Also mourning her passing are John’s widow, Jean Murphy, many nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends.  Florence had great love for and pride in her family. She embraced life, taking great joy in every excursion, every walk, every game of bridge, every dinner, and every glass of wine. Ultimately, Florence passed away as she lived – unselfishly and with quiet dignity, grace and humility.  Cremation has taken place. A private funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X, 16 Smithville Crescent, on Thursday, August 20, 2020. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association or The Gathering Place.

Kate and family. Sorry for the loss of your mom.

Margo and family, sorry for your loss. I am thinking of you all.

So sorry for your loss, Margo and Family.
I am sure she will be missed.

Margo, Kate and family – I was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. My parents, Ed and Bernie Murphy, spoke fondly of the times that spent with your Mom and Dad at the Catholic Youth Club in the 1950’s. Your mother and mine were born on the same day – likely both at St. Clare’s – so you could say they knew other their entire lives. It’s very tough to lose your mother – I still miss mine every day – but time will make your loss easier.

Margot
Very sorry for your loss.. just wished to pass my condolences to you and your family.

May Florence enjoy the peace of God’s love and the consolation and joy of seeing those who have gone before her.
Florence was first cousin to my father. She and her late sister Kay would come to my home for special events like baby showers or attend a family wedding. Florence was a calm, solid and peaceful presence. She was a gentle and loving woman who had a warm smile for those who greeted her.
I express my deepest sympathy to her children their spouses and grandchildren. May Florence rest in eternal peace and happiness..
