We have lost a very dear friend. We came late to his life but Gary taught us all we needed to know about living in Newfoundland. He was one of a kind and our visits to St John’s will not be the same with his going.
Our thoughts have been with you, Jim and Jeff, and all the family.

So very sad to hear of Gary’s passing, he was a welcomed face everyday at A&W on Kenmount, always a smile and kind word, he will be missed by all of our A&W family. Rest easy friend

Sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. I was one of the group in Topsail Pond. We had great times in there in our teens. I left Newfoundland in 1956 so I only saw Gary a few times since then. Bill Doug and Gary were always a part of the Topsail Pond group and Gary will be sorely missed. George

My sincere sympathy to all the Comerford family. The past few days since I heard of Gary’s death I’ve been remembering all the fun times we had water skiing and just hanging out in Topsail Pond.. I have a lovely picture of Gary and I on the Charles Bridge in Prague when we were there with the HHM Alumni Choir. I’m out of town now but you are all in my thoughts and memories.

Mary Beth, I am saddened to learn of Gary’s death. I have fond memories of times we all spent together both in town and at Topsail Pond. My condolences to you and your family at this sad time.

I am so saddened to read this today. Gary (Mr. Comerford, as I knew him way back when) ia a big part of my childhood memories. My dad, Tom Cantwell, would pick me up from school and we would drop by Gary’s office on Rawlin’s Cross. More often than not, there was a game of cribbage going on and the men were sometimes in need of a fourth. I was called upon to be that fourth. When I double-skunked the others, it was usually only Dad or Gary who saw the humour in that. We won’t discuss how inappropriate it was for me to be playing cards with grown men when I was only 11 or 12 year of age – it was a different time. Gary was a wonderful man and a true friend to my dad. And I have never met anyone who could drink as much Pepsi as he did. I find myself filled with memories today and wish that I could be at ‘home’ to visit and pay my respects. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Michele (Cantwell) Stewart

Very sorry to learn of Gary’s passing. Deepest condolences to his family.

We were saddened to see this news today, had many great conversations with Mr. Comerford at the race track.
He had a wonderful soul, was so kind to my son. They would sing their St Bon`s song together & Gary never failed to give Clayton inspiration for his racing.

Sincere condolences to Jeff & all the family.
