Obituary
Passed peacefully away at her home in Portugal Cove on June 3, 2020, Gertie Sparkes at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by her husband Roy, mother and father Frank and Eliza Churchill. Brother Albert, three precious grandchildren Alexandra, Kennedy and Kolby, brother in-law Wallace (Margaret) Sparkes and Gordon Sparkes. Leaving to mourn her precious daughters Sherri Lynn (Mark Wareham), Lori Lynn (Dave Hogan) and three special grandchildren whom she adored Rylee and Kinsley Wareham and Keira Hogan, brother Derrick (Donna) Churchill, whom she lived with, sister Emily (Bob) Noseworthy, sisters in-law Carol Ann Hibbs and Judy Sparkes, brothers in-law Lester (Doris) Sparkes, David (Gloria) Sparkes, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 there will be no visitation or public funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Janeway Foundation or St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove.
My heart breaks for you both Sherry and Lori. Your mom was awesome and made your dad so happy. Find peace in knowing they’re eternally together with their precious grand-babies.

So sorry to hear of Gertie’s passing ! She was a lovely lady and she will be missed by many. Last time I saw her was at Walmart with Em She had her precious grandchildren with her. We would always have a little chat when we met. So glad I got to talk to her not so long ago. Rest In Peace Gertie .

I am so very sorry to hear of Gertie’s passing. As a part of a family of Churchill’s that came from the Cemetery Rd., we were a tight knit bunch and Uncle Frank and Aunt Eliza and all the family were my family too. Mom and Dad thought the world of Gertie and she was always so very nice to me and always spoke and smiled right up to the last time I saw her at Walmart with Em. My heart is broken for you all but I know Roy was waiting with a huge smile for her and she has gotten to hug her beautiful granddaughters. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Aunt Gert will be so very much missed by all of us left behind. But thinking of the reunion she had with Unlce Roy and the beautiful grandbabies she never met, brings a sweet smile to my face knowing that she is still surrounded by the ones she loves although it be in a different home. I am so sorry to hear of Gertie’s passing. She was a wonderful lady and friend for many years and will be sorely missed. She always laughed at my jokes. Grieve only shortly for she has gone to a better place and will be welcomed by all who went before her.
