Obituary

After a wonderful life Helen passed peacefully away in her 98th year.  She was predeceased by her husband Bert and son Bob, brothers Cam, Bill, Doug, and David, and sister Daisy Delong.  Left with cherished memories are her son Doug (Becky Roome), daughter Janet, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Hamlyn, brother Alistair Eaton, her grandchildren Jeremy (Cyra Belbin), Hayley, Alexander,  Lauren (Patrick Tweddell), and her large extended family. Helen is also fondly remembered by her special friends Maureen Ryan, Nellie Thompson and Theresa Butler.

Helen’s family would like to extend special thanks to those who helped make her final days so much easier.  Her health care team Laurie Metcalfe, Kim Collins, Nathalie Caddigan, Dr. Robbins and Dr. McManamon were always there for her and provided wonderful care.  Friends Doreen Cuff, Robert Power and David Philpott showed Helen much care, generosity, and support.  We are truly grateful to you all.

There will be no visitation or funeral at this time.  The family will hold a celebration of Helen’s life at a date to be determined later.

Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the SPCA (spcanl.com), the Salvation Army food bank, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Becky & Family,

Deepest condolences on the loss of your mother-in-law. I’m sure you have years of treasured memories. Take care.

To Helen’s family. I met Helen when I joined St. Luke’s Bridge and my sister and I played with her and Nellie Thompson. Helen was a very interesting and bright lady, and also was blessed with the Eaton charm and wit. It was always a pleasure to be in her company, and the afternoon always passed quickly with much laughter. I met her twice after she and Nellie retired from the St. Luke’s Bridge, and so enjoyed having a chat with her. Helen was a lovely lady. My sympathies are with you on your loss

Janet & Families,

Sincere Sympathy on your Mother’s passing. Treasure her beautiful memories to help you through the days ahead. God bless you all.

Mrs. Smith met me in the mid 70’s, I was and still am a friend of her son Doug. 40 years later I ran into her and she needed no reminder of who I was, she remembered both names.
