James Edgar White

October 30, 1971 to December 10, 2017

Obituary

Passed peacefully away in the arms of his loving and devoted wife, James Edgar (Jamie) White of St. John’s, age 46 on Sunday, December 10, 2017, originally from Catalina. Leaving to mourn his wife and best friend Tamie (Walsh); his pride and joy, sons Sam and Jacob; brothers Jody (Rebecca, Benjamin and Marcus); and Jeffrey (Ethan and Hailey); father-in-law Bernard Walsh; special aunts Brenda Maher (Pat) and Marie Connors; members of the White, Ricketts and Shirran families; the boys’ mother Peggy White and life-long friend Steven Tilley. Predeceased by his parents Edgar and Joan; and grandparents Sam and Ida Crocker, and Warren and Rachel White. After genetic testing results in April, 2013, confirmed a diagnosis of Younger Onset Alzheimer’s Disease, with Tamie by his side, Jamie faced the future with courage and determination. He savoured time spent with his family especially Sam and Jacob. He was immensely proud of their accomplishments. His smile was bright and there was one for everyone. As the disease progressed, and his communication skills diminished, Jamie never failed to show Tamie every day just how much he loved her. Their faith family at St. Mark’s Anglican Church were a constant source of prayers and support. The family is grateful for the care that Jamie received while at home from care-workers Trista and Juanita; the nursing teams at 4SW, Pleasant View Towers and West 3A and East 2A Waterford Hospital and Drs Bruce Hollett, Susan Dalton and family physician Pat O’Shea. Tamie has been supported through the ups and downs of this longest good-bye by her best friend Cecilia Lannon-Kennedy (Ed); her co-workers at the NLMA and neighbours and friends especially Bob and Gina Everson who ensured that “Dad’s girl” was tended to. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Monday, December 11th, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 12th from 12 noon – 9 p.m. Funeral service on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 203 Logy Bay Road. Inurnment to follow at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NL or St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
