James George Best

James George Best, 89, passed away at the Palliative Care Unit, Miller Center on Friday July 8, 2016. Jim was born in 1927 to Alfreda and William Best in Wesleyville, NL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion (Moores), in 2008. He is survived by his two daughters, Donna (Charlie Taylor) and Diane (Noel Duff); cherished granddaughter, Joanna Duff; sister Martha Blackwood and her children Marilyn and Wade and their families; cousin Angela Janes and several nieces and nephews. Jim was a long time employee of Molson Brewery, Funeral services will be held on Monday July 11, 2016 in Carnell’s Memorial Chapel at 2:00 pm with Reverend Mercer officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 9:00 pm on Sunday July 10 at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road in St. John’s. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Wesley United Church, Patrick Street. Those wishing to sign the guest book may do so online. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Patrick O’Shea for his care and kindness to Dad over the last number of years. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Tiffany Village and the PCU at the Miller Center where Dad spend his last days.
