Obituary

Janet Ann Hinton, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, at the age of 53.

She was predeceased by her father, the Rev. Harold Hinton of Deer Lake/St. John’s.  She is survived by her mother Dora Ann Hinton, her children Theresa-Lynn, Brandon and Brock, her partner Randolph Hobbs, and brothers Mark, Anthony, and Richard.

Cremation has taken place.  The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, Friday, October 2.  The funeral service will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Saturday, October 3 with interment to follow at Kenmount Road Anglican Cemetery.  Due to COVID restrictions there is limited space at the funeral home and church for those who wish to pay their respects.  Please contact the family if you would like to attend the visitation.  To attend the funeral you may register upon arrival or in advance by calling the Cathedral at 726-5677.

Flowers would be gratefully received or in lieu of flowers, donations in Janet’s memory may be made to The AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador’s (ACNL) SWAP Program.

Sad day for me her only bio brother now im truly an orphan it hurts me more then i can say meet ya at the salmon hole where we will take our midnight swim….dad will be waiting for us back at the trailer in the yard…we always got caught sneaking out

I remember Janet very well from the time when I was on the cathedral staff. I recall being quite taken with her winning personality — I liked her a lot.

I was very sorry to hear of your daughter’s passing.. This is a very sad time for you. I crossed paths with Janet years ago when she was enrolled in a workshop on non-traditional employment for women and I was one of the facilitators.

I just seen Janet’s obituary and so very heart broken and shocked to hear of her loss..We reconnected several yrs back after not seeing each other since teenagers..It was amazing..we both were so happy. Thinking about you all so much at this very difficult times..RIP my beautiful friend.
