Obituary

Peacefully passed away on January 16, 2017 at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, Jean Kennedy, aged of 84 years.  Born on Bell Island, Newfoundland and was the 2nd child of Alphonsus and Mary (Murray) Hawco.  

 

She was predeceased by her husband Edward (1988) and son Karl (1989); parents Alphonsus and Mary Hawco; siblings Maureen Johnson, Alphonso Hawco Jr, Cathy Butler, Mary Hawco; and Aunt Helen Neary.

 

Forever remembered by her children Barry (Regina), Valerie Hawco (Steve), Dean (Cindy), Eddy (Roxanne), Blair, Marylou Tilley (Jim) and Karen Holmes (Jeff).   Cherished by grandchildren Stephen Hawco (Allison), Sean Kennedy (Ashley), Sarah Kennedy, Erin Tilley, Chadd Kennedy (Melissa), Mark Kennedy (Emily), Erik, Trent and Ian Holmes and great grandson Nathan Kennedy.   Also, remembered by siblings Michael Hawco, Marg Perry (Paul), Gus Hawco (Jeanette), Helena Highmore, Trish Tarrant (Randy), Bernice (Kevin) Hawco, Marilyn Kent (Ricky); sister-in-law Rita Kennedy (Blair) and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Special thank you to the staff of Agnes Pratt Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion.  Cremation has taken place. No visitation per Jean’s wishes.  Funeral mass will be held from Mary Queen of Peace on Wednesday January 18 at 9:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home or Newfoundland Cancer Society.
