Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jessie Lavina Oates nee Ball announce her passing.  Jessie passed away on Friday, November 29th, 2019 at the age of 81 years, at her home, in St. John’s, NL.

Jessie, leaves fond and loving memories with her children, Paul (Donna), Donald (Bethany) and Jackie (Paul); grandchildren, Matthew (Alice), Cassy (JB), Trever, Kayla (Bethany) and Julia; great-grandson, Eli; siblings, Lucy (Jack), Ruby, Donald (Elizabeth), Margaret, Wayne (Susan), Valdene (Eric), and Linda (Paul); and siblings in law, Beulah (Ralph), Jack (Geraldine), Walter (Jean), Nelson (Linda), Noel (Lois Anne), Winston (Barbara) and Ernie.  Jessie is also leaving behind beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives, her friends at Glenbrook Villa and her fellow gardeners at the Br. Jim McSheffrey Community Garden as well as extended family and friends.

Jessie was predeceased by her parents, Annie and Don; husband, Doug; siblings, Stratt, Melvin and Cecilia; brothers-in-law, Theodore, Donald, Max and Dave; and sisters-in-law, Mae, Mary and Clara.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd, St. John’s, on Wednesday December 4th, 2019, from 12-2 p.m. with funeral service to follow.  The funeral procession will then move to Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 53 James Ln.

I was so sorry to learn of Jessie’s passing – sadly, too late to visit before I left for Ontario. Please accept my sincere condolences, albeit very late ones.
