Joan and i became great friends through our shared friendship with myra torreville, st. Thomas anglican church and the elks club. She would always call me when she was leaving for florida, and say i will call when i get back, and she always kept her word. She was a wonderful person, who will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to her family.

Joan was my cousin and a constant in my life in Heart’s Content and later in St. John’s. We always kept in touch even after she moved to Florida and I moved to Ottawa. Whenever I was in St. John’s, we always got together to catch up. She will be missed by many. Rest in pease, Joan

I worked with Joan at the Royal Bank, Main Branch, Water Street. St. John’s in the early 70s. She was a lovely co-worker, loved her job, and was always kind and generous. Just last night I made blueberry muffins and found the recipe she gave me such a long time ago, and commented to my husband how a wonderful lady gave me this recipe which was barely readable on a typewritten card. I picked up the paper just a moment ago and read her obituary in disbelief. Sincere condolences to all the family!!

Joan was a friend of my sister Joan’s since school days at Spencer. We kept in touch, after my sister passed on. She was a devoted attendant at church in Florida & in St. John’s, and visited me when she was able. Rest in Peace. Eileen Elms

2009 Myself and Debbie meet Joan at church in Florida at St.Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church which she cherished .Our friendship grew in knowing her friends and family which she always talked about and loved dearly.
Our trips to from FLA will be always remembered from our lunches together and sightseeing trips to celebrating our birthdays

Visiting her at hospital and seeing her strong willingness and passion for life even made her stronger in faith and joy knowing she lives in Christ
May she rest in peace until we meet again

Your Friends in Christ

I knew Joan many years ago through our Heart’s Content connection and then worked with her at RBC, Main Branch, Water Street in the 60’s where she was a friend and great source of knowledge and advice. In recent years, we would see each other at the bank’s annual get together and she would always be in good spirits talking about her time in Florida, yarning about the old days at the bank, etc. To her family and friends, I extend my deepest sympathy. RIP Joan!

My condolences to the family. Joan was such a good friend of my mother Myra Torraville. Joan worked with RBC and was a huge influence in getting me my job with RBC. . Joan was like family, always there when you needed her and always willing to help we were neighbors for many years. So sorry I cannot be there. To pay my respects. She is in a peaceful place now..
