Obituary

Passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday October 4, 2019, J. Douglas Furneaux, aged 92 years.  Predeceased by his parents Margaret and Dr. Jack Furneaux; beloved grandson Andrew Furneaux; brothers in law James Begg, Otto Ebert, Frank Fieser, Frank Day and Harold Day and sister in law Elizabeth Day.   Leaving to mourn with beautiful memories are his wife of 67 years, Trudy (Gertrude), their children Jeff (Betty), Guy (Annette) and Karen (Jerry Baird); loving grandchildren Jeffrey (Heather), John (Lesley), Heather, Josh, James, Nicholas (Erin) and Erin(Adam), seven beautiful great grandchildren; sisters Mildred Begg, Jane Crosbie (John), Almeda Ebert and Heather Fieser; sisters in law Lorraine Day and Margaret Day; brothers in law Ralph Day (Millicent) and Melville Day (Margaret); also, a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Cremation has taken place. The family will accept visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday October 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday October 9 at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, Andrew and Pop will be interred together at Forest Road Anglican Cemetery.  Donations in Douglas’ memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

To Trudy, Karen, Jeff & Guy, and families. My heart is heavy today for you all. I know Doug lived a full and precious life but that doesn’t make the loss any less painful. Those we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us. Doug lives on in the kindness he shared and the love he brought into your lives.

Mrs. Furneaux, Jeff,,Guy and Karen and the entire Furneaux family. Mr. Furneaux’s passing is a so very sad to hear. He certainly lived a very long life. He was such a fine and caring person. My sincere condolences to all of you. He will be missed by all.
