Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Ellis (nee Critch) on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the L.A. Miller Palliative Care Unit after a short illness, age 83 years.  Originally from Hant’s Harbour.   Predeceased by her father Frederick, mother Jessie, brother Wilfred and his wife Velma, and sister, Betty Winsor.  Jean will be dearly missed by her loving husband and best friend of 59 years, John; sons Boyd (Paula) and Barry (Carol), grandson Aidan, all living in Calgary.  Also leaving to mourn brother Boyd Critch (Glenys), sisters-in-law Doris Harris, Verina Ellis; brothers-in-law Job Winsor (Cynthia), and Edwin Ellis (Selina), numerous nephews and nieces as well as many wonderful friends.  Grateful thanks to her Care Givers and staff at the Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion.  A very special thank you to the Salvation Army Hospital Chaplains for their many visits and prayers.  Visitation will be from 2 – 4 pm and 7 -9 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road.  Funeral Service to be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Sunday morning, November 3, 2019 at 10 am with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Hant’s Harbour at 3:00 pm.  No flowers by request.  Donations in her memory can be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
