So sorry to read about your mother’s passing . She lived a long and happy life . Time passes so quickly like a flash from the days at St. Michael’s church to Cornwall Cres and Craigmiller Ave . One of my most vivid childhood memories however was of the Friday night cad games our parents would have . Always called Mr. Earle the “Chip man ” because he seemed to always bring the potato chips . Your mother was the last of the group . Hope to see you soon when Covid is out of our lives and we can embrace each other .

Joan
Humphrey and I are so saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing. Being neighbours of your Mom in Topsail we had many visits with her and helping her in her garden which she dearly loved and where she was so at peace. She shared many memories with us of her family and relatives and growing up in Change Islands which she dearly loved and her years on Fogo Island. Your Mom was such a beautiful lady and we were so privileged having her as our neighbour and very dear friend whom we will always remember with fondest love. Our deepest sympathy to you and all your family. Rest in peace Mabel. We are so thankful to have had you in our lives.

Joan, Chris, Ann and families:
So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. Altho’ I was acquainted with your dad a long time ago, I met your mother when a group of us were planning a reunion for Bishop Jones Memorial Hostel/Spencer Lodge. Your mom was part of the Spencer Lodge group in 1937/38, and they had insisted that they wanted to be included since they lived in the same building priior to the house being renamed Bishop Jones in 1942. She was indeed a beautiful person who, over the following years have added a positive influence in our lives and we will be forever grateful . So, on behalf of the former “girls” of BJMHG and SL, I wish our deepest condolences, and may God Bless and Comfort you in the days ahead as you deal with your Loss.
Shirley Morris Cooper, Communications

` After all the time that has passed since we worked together and In these very trying times please accept the virtual hug and love I am sending you.

There were always cookies and we could not leave without having any. While Dad talked with Uncle Fred, she always looked after us. Any trip home had to include a visit to Aunt Mab and Uncle Fred. She is someone who will always be part of my best memories.

Sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing .My condolences to you Joan and your Family..

I met Mabel during the six months I spent in Kenny’s Pond recuperating from surgery. I had just lost my husband. and Mabel befriended me and made me feel very welcome. She was a great bridge player, very up to date on modern conventions. She had played since childhood as she and Fred were needed to make up a foursome on the long winter nights . A great lady!!! She will be missed.
