Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Madeline Dorothy Murie (nee Hiscock) announce her passing at her home in St. John’s on April 2nd, 2019, age 94, and now reunited with her husband Archibald, who passed away on April 16, 1984.  She is predeceased by her parents Sylvester and Belinda Hiscock; brothers Fred (Rita), Wilson (Isabelle), Phillip (Olga), Charles, and George; sister Violet (Tom); brother-in-law Tommy Evans, and granddaughter Emerald.  Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories her children Madeleine, Ian, Alistair (Joan), Heather (Gary), Janet (Jeff); grandchildren Lisa, Leslie, Craig, Gina, Ian, Laura, Scott, Joshua, Jordan and Julia; great-grandchildren Daniel, Aaron, Lucas, Robin, Aaliyah, Liam, Tatum, Harley, Blake and Molly; sister Laura Evans, sister-in-law Betty Hiscock, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including relatives in Scotland and England.  Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday, April 3 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, April 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 5 at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at Kenmount Road Anglican Cemetery.  Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations in Madeline’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Murie was so very kind to me when I was a child. She gave me cabbage patch slippers once when she came back from a vacation. I still have them. Rest well Mrs. Murie.

We are all so sorry to hear of Nan’s passing, and wish we could join family and friends to mourn the loss of someone we all loved dearly. We will cherish our many fond memories. Hugs and love extended to all those gathering to celebrate her life, as well as those others unable to atttend in person.

I surely wish I could be home with you all at this very sad time during the passing of your Mom. I cherish my memorable visits with Aunt Madeline. She certainly was a treasure and I thoroughly enjoyed our little chats and the fond memories we both shared. Rest In Peace Aunt Madeline – God Bless.

Even though I’m not there with you – just wanted you all to know I love you and I’m thinking of you. I’ll always cherish the times I spent with Mom in past years and be forever grateful for everything she taught me in my lifetime.
