Margaret Ann Nugent (Crocker) R.N

July 25, 1941 to January 19, 2021

Obituary

On January 19th, 2021, an angel by the name of Margaret Ann Nugent (Crocker) R.N. (age 79) decided to peacefully leave this earth, in the company of her family, whose turn it was to hold her hand, until she joined her loving husband, John William Nugent, who preceded her in 2005. Also anxiously awaiting her with open arms are her parents Elsie Jean Crocker (Bugden) and Harold James Crocker, pharmacist, alongside her brother Wayne Crocker, and who could forget, her dog, Muffy, who was her loyal companion who couldn’t wait to jump in her arms.

Margaret Ann was educated at Bishop Spencer College alongside many life-time friends who continually kept in contact with her. She then continued her studies at the General School of Nursing, where she developed bonds with nurses that lasted a lifetime, and did she ever meet her calling!! Margaret Ann then went on to care for the sick at the Miller Centre, Waterford, Hillview Lodge and Department of Health; where she brought joy to each elderly resident in personal care homes throughout the province. Later in life, during her stay at Pleasant View Towers, her caregivers called her nurse Nugent because she was always at the bedside of ailing patients; even though, she was a patient herself. Margaret Ann was truly a saint and her compassion is her legacy!

Regretfully, MAC, as she is known to those closest to her, left a huge circle of family and friends behind to continue her legacy in her memory. These include, her son John Nugent, (Barb Greene); her daughter Jeannie Nugent (David Barnes); and two precious grandchildren Jacob Nugent and Olivia Crane, who were the light and stars in her eyes. “Nanny MAC will surely be missed, but not forgotten.” Also left behind is her amazing aunt Elizabeth Johnston (Auntie Betty) whose infectious laugh she always loved to be around; and her best friend, cousin and sister; Shirley Crawley, who was her rock through life, “oh the secrets they shared.”  She will also be sadly missed by Rosemary Gomez, Dorothy (Sis) Boland; William (Billy) and Sherwood Nugent, and Dwayne and Debbie Nugent. Furthermore, Margaret Ann leaves many nieces and nephews, who were dear to her heart. Cousins that are too many to name individually, but know, she cherished each and every one of you. You were all so dear to her. Also, special friends Bill and Ruth Dyer who shared many fun times during her and John’s hay day. Finally, the caregivers and domestic workers at Pleasant View Towers on 4 South East who treated her like family. I know she thanks you and so do her family, especially for the Facetime chats with her daughter living away, and the raisin toast and coffee provided to her children during the last weeks of her life.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, January 24th, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4- 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 25th at 10 a.m. with internment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. COVID-19 regulations apply.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.

Mac was a very close cousin and friend. We both enjoyed excellent times together in the cabin in Salmonier, at my place in Florida and whenever we were in each other’s company.

Her kind heart and caring ways extended to everyone she met. My boys Scott and Justin loved her and called her a “sweetheart” as she did to them.

Never to be forgotten, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Rest in peace my dear cousin and friend.
