It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Dorothy “Dot” Clarke (nee Antle), who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the age of 83.  Predeceased by her parents Molly and Charlie Antle, brothers Teddy and Charles Jr., and sister Joan Hussey.  Left with loving and cherished memories is her devoted husband of 65 years Roland, her children Joan (Gary) Olford, Edward, Doreen Tremblett, Dorothy (Dave) Pynn , Tanya (Marvin) Guignion, daughter-in-law Linda and foster child Dennis Faulkner who held a very special place in her heart; grandchildren Michael, Angela (Corey), Melissa (Russell), Samantha, Angelina (Shane), Justin, Matthew (Samantha), Stephanie (Jeremy) and Molly; great-grandchildren who she adored Mackenzie, Janessa, Faith, Ethan, Meadow Lynn, Christian, Kinley and baby Harlan.  Also leaving behind her brother David Antle and many extended family members and friends.

On March 6, 1955, mom married her one true love, Roland Clarke, who provided unconditional love and care until the end.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing mom knew that she lived for the lord, loved her family and friends beyond measure, was a gentle and caring soul with the most amazing sense of humour.  Mom will be remembered as a beautiful selfless person who always put family first.  Not only did she see the good in the world she also brought out the best in others which allowed Mom and Dad to be foster parents and open their home to several children over the course of 40 years.  Because of the exceptional love and care provided by her children over the last 5 years, mom was able to remain home and pass peacefully away surrounded by those that loved her.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the homecare workers who cared for mom, and to the many friends who stopped by for visits.

Following the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation.  The funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Paradise Non-Denominational Cemetery.  For those unable to attend, the funeral will be live-streamed, with the link to view the online service available above.  Following COVID-19 public health regulations, non-medical face masks must be worn indoors.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dot’s memory may be made to the Newfoundland and Labrador Foster Families Association.

Sincere condolences on the great loss of your mom. I remember how you spoke so well of her which also spoke to me that she was a person so close to your heart. You do look so much like her and now I see where you got your funny sense of humor as well.
Your mom was graced with the gift of kindness and love, with the ability to selflessly give to foster care. May your peace continue in the days ahead when your hearts aches each time to have her near in knowing that she now rests in the Hands of God.

Dorothy and Dave, and all their family;
Anyone could tell, just be the way your family all talked about your mom what a special lady she was, and so loved by all of you. May I say your selfless care and devotion to your mom while she was ill for all those years, also distinguish her children as very special as well. Your lovely , gentle mom will be missed, it is clear, by so many. But you can all take some comfort that in her later years, she had the most wonderful family to nurse her, and to support your father during those trying times. Bless you all, and our heartfelt condolences on your loss. Love, Don, Nancy and family, and Jean and Gerry Pynn
