Obituary

Passed peacefully away on Sunday March 24, 2019 at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by family and friends in her 75th year. Predeceased by her husband Dick, 1995; parents Max and Doris Vaters (nee Penney). Leaving to mourn her loving children Patricia (Robert Seymour), Craig (Sherie Driscoll) and Richard (Linda); four grandchildren: Ava, John, Anna and Christopher; loving sister Ann (Vaters) Luscombe; niece Kelly and Nephew Bill; also, other relatives, especially Max and Maureen Butt, and friends, including numerous special friends. Special thank you to the nurses and staff at the ICU at the Health Science Centre for their care and compassion. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday March 26 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday March 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday March 28 from St. James United Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers accepted or donations in Maxine’s memory may be made to St. James United Church.

To Maxine’s Family,
I was a friend of Maxine’s and of her mother Doris. I’m saddened to hear of her passing and my thoughts and condolences are with you all.

We were devastated to hear of your Mother’s passing. She was a true and caring friend from the first day we met in the registration line at Memorial University. Every year we looked forward to her visits here and ours to her place in the summer..
She was determined to live her life to the fullest in spite of her medical condition.
Conversations with her always showed her love and involvement with her children and grandchildren

I was very sad to here that Maxine passed away. She spent the day with me the Wednesday before she was admitted to hospital in Florida. We played bridge together during the summers and when she was visiting in Fl.

To all of Maxine’s family. We are very saddened by by your loss. We had a long chat with Maxine at the NL picnic here in FL and never thought it would be our last. We did go to see her at Bay Front hospital and hope that she could know we were there for her. Maxine was a long time friend and it was always a delight to spend time with her. So sorry to hear of Maxine’s Passing,, We met at the Mun.. School of music at a concert last year the first time in years she looked beautiful, we were the same age & went to school in Victoria together for years, she was my best friend at that time . Rest in Peace my friend .
