Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Milton Whitten, age 90, at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Predeceased by parents Robert and Margaret Whitten, mother and father-in-law Frederick and Lucilla Chafe, brothers Clyde, Gordon (Dot), Jack (Edith), sisters Mildred Thorne (Ed), Phyllis Janes (Jack) and brothers-in-law George Chafe and Gordon Smith. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 59 years, Jean (nee Chafe), daughter Roz White (Fred), son Ron (Carolyn Burry), and precious grandchildren who were the light of his life Danielle and Vannessa White, Emily, Matthew, Noah and Jonathan Whitten; sisters-in-law Audrey Smith and Agnes Whitten, nieces, nephews, and a large circle of relatives and friends.

A sincere thank-you to the doctors, nurses and homecare worker Josie who looked after him over the last number of months. Cremation has taken place. 

A funeral service will be held from St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Torbay, on Wednesday September 16th at 2:00PM. Due to the current pandemic, there is a limited capacity for those who may attend. 

Always loved, never forgotten.

Ron and family . I was saddened to hear of you Dads passing, especially at this unforeseen time of CVID-19.
Milton was always very kind and a great neighbour to our family when I was living on Whitten’s lane as a child. My memories are only as a child and during a few visit’s back to NL over the years. My condolences to all the Whitten Family’s and especially your mom at this sad time.

Deepest sympathy to your family. I knew Mr. Whitten when we worked at the Janeway Hospital in Pleasantville. He always had a great smiling face and years later, anytime I met him around Torbay he was always so friendly. I am so sorry for your loss.
