Passed peacefully away on April 14th, 2021 in the presence of her loving family at the age of 90.  Predeceased by her loving husband, Walt; parents, Shannon and Kathleen Clift; infant sister, Margaret; brothers, John, Tom and Frank; mother and father-in-law, Selina and Leo Chidley; son-in-law, Patrick Broderick; and sister-in-law, Rose Clift.  Leaving to mourn with memories to last a lifetime, daughters, Dawn (Jim Peddigrew), Gaye Broderick, Peg (Glenn Goss) and Sandra Chidley; grandchildren, Christopher Peddigrew (Gill), Morgan Chidley, Mark Peddigrew, Megan Broderick (Wally Lane), Julia Roberts (Alan Barry), Ben Goss (Krysta Tobin) and Mark Broderick (Jennifer Smith).  As she was lovingly called, ‘Patsy’ will be missed by her five great-grandchildren, Leah Smith, Jadyn King, Jonah Broderick, Mason Broderick and Sonny Peddigrew, who were her pride and joy; sisters-in-law, Alice Clift and Joan Clift; special cousins, Vickie (Gil Tanguma) of California, Elizabeth (Peter Targett), of England and Peter Henry (Phyllis) of Michigan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mom will be remembered for her selfless, easy-going nature, especially by her family.  She looked forward to Friday night darts at the “The Club” (RCAFA) and a glass of wine with her friends. If you were lucky enough to be gifted with her shortbread, you know no one else could make them like she could.  She was a fashion icon with a strong sense of style.

Our gratitude to the staff of 4 South B, HSC, who were so kind and compassionate to Mom in her final days.  And we would be remiss if we did not thank her wonderful neighbours, Ron, Leona, Katie, Laura, Ryan and Dorothy, whose constant care and kindness enriched her life.

Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations in Mom’s memory may be made to the Special Olympics Mount Pearl.  Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Friday April 16th from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 17th at 11:00 a.m. from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Ashford Drive, Mt. Pearl, by invitation only.  The funeral service will be live-streamed at that time from St. Peter’s for those unable to attend.

We will miss you, Mom, but we know Dad is waiting with open arms and we’re sure you are covering heaven’s dance floor.

Forever in our hearts…until we meet again.

Words fall short of expressing our sorrow for the loss of your Mother. We know for certain, however, that we never lose the people we love. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an unforgettable imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. Please accept our sincere condolences on the death of your mom and grandmother. Walt and Pat were our neighbours on Fagen Drive and we enjoyed the parties and neighbourly chats. our son Donnie was a frequent visitor at her house as they bonded over curling. A lovely lady. Rest in peace.

May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

A very special wonderful lady; Mrs. C. She had a presence, a wisdom, a kindness, a warmth, and an honesty that made being around he made us a richer and better self.

And central to her life, her Walt and her daughters. Her core. As a friend and extended family you couldn’t help but feel her deep love, sometimes her tough love, her truth, her hope and her heart that that shone through it all. Frail, determined, and full of strength. That grit lives on through her love. .

I was privileged to have shared more than an few glasses and much laughter with Mrs C. Thought and stories. Perhaps even a few secrets. I raise one more glass – to her, to Mr. C, and to her daughters, to their children, and the partners of all. she was a treasure, a beacon, and a lady of pure heart. We all were and are privileged.

God bless her. She left a treasure of memories and lessons that will endure. We are better for the life of Mrs. C. And thank you Patsy. Mrs. C. Cheers. .

Sandra

Dawn and family, Sincere condolences on the passing of your mom. Thinking of you all at this time . Take care.

To all the Chidley family. My sincere condolences to a fine and beautiful lady. Pat was one of a kind and Walt and she were meant for each other from the start. They were great friends of mine through my tenure with Shoppers Drug Mart and their with Carlton cards. When my beautiful daughter Sarah was born, Pat brought into the store a gorgeous Gund teddy bear to give to her. That bear is still in her possession after 34 years. Pat mention that those were the best teddy bears available and then convinced me to buy numerous others and that should could them for me. Never said they had the marketing rights for Newfoundland. Walt would have given them to me at cost but business woman Pat had to make a profit on the sale and a good one at that. Seriously I absolutely thought the world of her and secretly I think she thought the same of me. Walt with his humour said many times take her if u can handle her. Fine, fine lady. Hold the memories of her close to your hearts. RIP Patricia.

I only met Mrs. Chidley a handful of times but she was always warm, kind, fun and so very stylish! Thinking of you all during this difficult time. xo
