Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, Phyllis Janes. Predeceased by her husband and soulmate Jack (2007); her parents Robert & Margaret (White) Whitten; sister Mildred Thorne (& husband Ed & niece Lynn); brothers Clyde; Jack (& wife Edith); and Gordon (& wife Dorothy).
She will be forever loved and remembered by her daughter Candace (Moakler); her husband Sean and granddaughter Lauren, the light of her life. Also leaving to mourn her brother Milton and wife Jean; sister-in-law Agnes; and a large circle of special nieces, nephews and friends.
Phyllis lived a long happy life surrounded by love, joy, family and friends. She was a consummate kind and caring woman who was always concerned about the well-being of those closest to her. She was an avid gardener with an amazing green thumb; a first-class knitter; a legendary Christmas cake maker; a deeply spiritual person; she always had a warm welcoming smile; she thoroughly enjoyed fun and laughter and get-togethers and everyone was welcome in her home! She loved deeply with a true and pure heart.
Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9 from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service on Monday, December 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, Torbay. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her memory to St. Nicholas Church Building Fund, 13 St. Nicholas Lane, Torbay, and NL, A1K 1B3.
