Obituary

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Randy Gregory Gould. Taken from us at the early age of 53, due to his battle with Cancer. Randy was predeceased by his brother Michael Gould and mother Ruby Beryl Hounsell and is survived by his two daughters, Denise Roy (Rob Roy) and Megan Gould, their mother Charlene and granddaughter Chelsea, his sisters Janet Gould (Bill King), Patricia (Larry Pardy) and Charlene (Rusty Hunt) and their families and lifelong family friends Tom and Sandy Ryan. As well as the extended Ryan and Murphy families and numerous close friends. Randy served twenty years in the Canadian Forces as a technician in the EME branch of the army, he joined in ’87 and conducted his basic training in Cornwallis, NS, and from there was posted to Kingston, ON for basic electronic training. From there it was off to Borden, ON for his trades training and then to his first official posting to Petawawa ON. It was there he had married Charlene and had his two wonderful girls. He was dispatched to the Golan Heights in Israel to work with the United Nations effort during his time in Petawawa, earning his first service medal. From there he was posted to Wainwright, AB and became the trades expert on Armoured Vehicles and Fuel Fired Heaters. He could always be counted upon to answer any and all questions from around the globe to his fellow soldiers as his expertise was beyond reproach. After an eternity in Wainwright he was posted to Kingston, ON where he finished off his contract and decided to move home to NL to be closer to his family and friends. He has spent the last ten years working at Weir’s providing their company with Randy’s constant dedication and tiresome efforts to always make things better and always with a laugh. For anyone that has ever known or had the pleasure to meet Randy, you would have know that he was the most caring, giving, thoughtful soul that touched numerous lives and for that we are all eternally grateful. We love you Randy and you will forever be missed. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday August 31st , 2017 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.  Funeral service will take place in Carnell’s Memorial Chapel, on Thursday 31st at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Rd.  Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in memory can be made to a Canadian Cancer society.
