‘When I reach that last big shoal
Where the ground swells break asunder,
Where the wild sands roll to the surges toll.
Let me be a man and take it
When my dory fails to make it.

Take me back to that snug green cove
Where the seas roll up their thunder.
Where the seas roll up their thunder.
There let me rest in the earth’s cool Breast
Where the stars shine out their wonder-
And the seas roll up their thunder.’

Although I did not know Robert Doyle, I know his daughter, Susan. Judging from what a fine person Susan is, I know that he must have been a great man. I send my deepest sympathies and condolences to Susan and the entire family.

Robert, Firstly I have to apologize for having missed the notice that your Dad had passed away, I’m so sorry to hear this news. I’m guilty of not following the obits as closely as I should. I had a long relationship with your Dad, both from a business perspective but also a personal one. He always had helpful advice for me anytime we met. I’ll also recall the Doyle reunion at Eastport some years back where you all welcomed me when I stopped by. Please accept my sympathies both to you, Pau, Susan, Sara & Jane. Very nice picture of your Dad on the Carnell’s webpage.

Dear Robert, Paul, Susan and Sara,

Sending heartfelt condolences and warm wishes to you all, during this sad time.

Robert, Paul, Susan and Sarah,
We were very saddened to hear about your Dad’s passing. We have many fond memories of good times with your family and the Daleys and the Dobbins and ourselves in Eastport and down the country. You all have been through many grievous losses and hard times. Please know that we are thinking of you at this time.
The McManamon family

Susan, Derek and Family,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Thinking of all of you and hoping that fond memories will give you comfort and strength at this difficult time and in the days ahead.

Paul,Karen and family. We are sorry to hear of the passing of Paul’s father. Please accept our deepest sympathy.Cherish your memories and lean on each other.

My deepest sympathy to the Doyle and Abrey families on the loss of Bob. My dad, Benedict Costello, worked at Gerald S. Doyle’s for a number of years. He was from King’s Cove and first came to the city on the Miss Newfoundland, accompanying Mr. Doyle’s uncle on a trip to St. John’s. I have many happy memories of my brother, sister and me visiting the Doyle building on Blackmarsh Road and having Bob take us down the plant to get some Hershey treats. He was my sister’s godfather. May your memories give you comfort at this sad time. Sincerely, Geralyn Costello.

Dear Robert, Susan, Paul and Sara
Sending you love and healing thoughts from St Kitts. Your Dad, my uncle Bob, led an incredibly full life. More life two lifetimes in one. I know you all four will miss him but he does live on through all of you.
Much love,
Margaret-Ann

Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. With deepest sympathy, Mary and Rod Byrne

Susan and Family – I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My own father passed away less than two months ago so I know what a difficult and overwhelming time this is – my thoughts are with you all. As a friend shared with me, grief is not something you get over but instead it weaves its way into your life as the river does to the ocean.

Dear Sara, Susan, Paul and Robert and family,
So sorry to hear of your loss. May this time of sorrow also stir warm memories to ease your hearts. Deepest sympathies to you all.
Hugs, Gina O’Rourke-McKay, Melissa and Jordan

My deepest sympathy for your loss.. I have fond memories of Godfather Bob as my Dad Ben Costello and I went to Gerald S. Doyle’s to pick up orders.
