Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre on Sunday, August 30, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer, Thomas “Fred” Pynn of St. John’s, aged 95 years.
Predeceased by his wife Eleanor (Rodgers), parents Thomas and Mary (Sheppard), siblings Mark, Jessie (Art Taylor), Berdina and Eileen; brother-in-law Judd Spurrell. Left with fond memories daughter Joan (Carl Rickert), grandchildren Adam (Robyn), Amy (Marcus) and Angela (Mark), great-grandchildren Emily and Daniel; son David (Donna), grandchildren Stephen and Scott (Amie); loving and caring sister-in-law Marjorie Rodgers, brothers-in-law Bill Jewer and John Moore, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family extends a sincere thank you to the Community Health Care Nurses, Palliative Paramedics of the Palliative Care in the Home Program, and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism.
Cremation has taken place. A private family visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3 from Carnell’s Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 4. Please contact the family if you would like to attend either the visitation or service. For those unable to attend, the funeral service will be live-streamed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
