Obituary
With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister, Vivian Annie Pope (Williams) on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021. Vivian was born in Pool’s Cove, Fortune Bay on May 24th, 1929.
Predeceased by husband William, son Wayne and sister and best friend Winnie. Leaving to mourn her passing, sons Keith (Patsy), Gary (Liz); daughters Sharon (Eugene), Gail (Wayne) and Heather; daughter in-law Shirley; grandchildren Bobby, Stephen (Sarah), Andrea, Suzanne (Rodney), Darryl (Christina), Melissa (Devin), Ashley (Steve), Joshua (Jessica), Matthew (Melissa), Mitchell and Zachary (Jade); great grandchildren Carter, Logan, Chloe, Abigail, Rosalie, Gabriel, Layne, Caiden and Julianna; brothers Chesley (Daisy – deceased), Calvin (Joan), Eric (Elaine) and Neil (June); as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, May 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 10th at 10 a.m. from Church of the Ascension by invitation only, with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.

Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

We were deeply saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was always kind, and welcoming and was a big part our growing up on Winston Avenue. How she tolerated all of us in and around her home is amazing but she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. In this difficult time, the great memories that you have will sustain you in the days ahead. Take care.

Pope Family, I am so so sorry you lost your mother. I feel I was privileged to help wiith her care even though it was a short time .. It did not take us long to bond we had no problem finding something to tqlk about as we remembered sharing the times of WInston Ave.. Vivian was an amazing woman ( salt of the earth). . One of the talks we had she told me how proud she is of all of you felt blessed to have such good children.. She said she had a good life hopes when her time comes would like to leave life with her mind and no pain. These were her words. . Hope you all find this will help ease your pain. Vivian got her wish . GOD love her..

I am about as far away physically as is possible in the country here in Vancouver but so wish I was just down the street from you guys as you bid your Mom farewell on her journey to what is next for her.
I’ll never forget the many times Mom took us kids (all five of us) from Cape Breton to spend weeks during the summer at your house in Mount Pearl. My Mom, Katie, was always chomping at the bit to get to Nfld to spend time with her brother (Uncle Bee) and your Mom. Even from a very young age, your Mom and Dad’s warmth and welcoming open arms struck a chord with me, left an impression that has stayed with me ever since. They were always so happy to see us coming, even if that meant the house would be chaos for the coming weeks with all you guys and all of us. Ha! Oh, the memories!!
After many years, I was so grateful I got to visit with Aunt Vivian in 2017 during a trip to Nfld. It was like all those in between years melted away. She hadn’t changed a bit. I can still hear her voice today, that same voice that always felt like ‘home’ all those years ago.
Your Mom was a gem. She had to be one of the best Moms, ever!! She sure was the best Auntie one could ever have. Know that you are in our thoughts as you navigate this next while.
