Obituary

Passed away peacefully at the Health Science Centre on October 11, 2019 Wallace Garfield Wiscombe in his 94th year. Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories his daughters Leah Keating (David) and Caroline Penney (Frederick) and son Gary  (Janet Rubia); grandchildren Sherry Power, Debbie Cullen (Rick), Janice Penney (Shawn Lambert), Jo-Anne Rector (Ian), Christine Power, Nancy Power (Keith Rumsey), Sarah Pike (Adam), and David Wiscombe (Leslie Morrill); great-grandchildren Alison Pynn (David), Melissa, Megan and Jacob Cullen, Michael, David and Tiffany Noftall (their dad Cecil), Stephanie and Matthew Rumsey, Noah and Kyle Rector, Avery Pike and Gabriel Wiscombe; great-great grandchildren Joshua Pynn and Alexa Noftall; son-in law Edward Power(Linda);  sisters-in law Mavis Hooper and Lillian Wiscombe; and special family friend Sonya Thompson.

Gary was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Rita Mary (Hooper) Wiscombe; parents Isaac and Leah (Bambury) Wiscombe, brothers William (Betty), Job (Bertha), James and Samuel Wiscombe and sister Eunice Hodder (Byron); parents-in law James and Caroline Hooper and brother-in law Nicholas Hooper.

Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 11am – 8pm with a Service of Remembrance at The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 11am. Interment to take place from St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church Cemetery, Creston South, Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Sorry to hear of Gary passing. When I lived in corner brook he was such a great friend and golfing buddy. I’m sure he will be missed by anyone who knew him.
My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time. May God bless you all.

Leah and family, so sorry for the loss of your dear father. It was so nice to have met him, such a pleasant man. Mom(Gertie) and him really enjoyed reminiscing about old times.

So saddened to hear of Our friend, Gary’s passing. Another great man has left us, but not without lots of beautiful memories. Off course South Brook is our greatest memory and what a great friend he became to both of us and our girls and all who camped there. He lived a great life and is now with the love of his life, Rita. They were Soul mates for sure. You all have so much to share about this dear man. Laugh, cry and remember, we will. Love to all off you.
