Obituary

Another angel has received his wings. Wilfred Stephen Miller, 87 years old from Portugal Cove passed away peacefully in the presence of his loved ones, February 14, 2018
Predeceased by his parents Stephen and Lilly May Miller; two brothers, David and Georgie; six sisters, Phoebe, Florence, Laura, Evelyn, Margaret and Mary. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 63 years Wilhelmina (nee Somerton); two daughters, Wanda Allen and Maxine Miller. Three granddaughters, Tanya (Billy) Manning, Loni (Morgan MacDonald) Allen, Nancy (Darren) White. Two special great-grand children, Emily and Kyle Manning; two sisters in law, Stella Miller and Violet Hussey. Many special nieces and great – nieces, nephews and great-nephews, cousins and many very special friends.
His family would like to thank Dr Patrick O’Shea and his community health nurse April Adams and Revd. Amanda for all of their care given to him and support towards the family. We would also like to thank family and friends who visited and prepared meals and snacks for the family.
Wilfred will be resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday February 16 and Saturday February 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday February 18 from 11-12:30 p.m. Funeral services will take place on February 18 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove.

Wilhelmina we were so sad to hear of Wilfs passing. Both John and I are thinking of you during this sad time. Remember ” The Lord picks the most beautiful flowers for his own garden” we must also thank you for the kindness you showed our father, Wallace Barnes. He certainly loved your tea buns.

my condolences to members of the Miller family. Wilf and I worked together for a short while , way, way back in Best wishes to his family memebers at this difficult time.

Wilhelmina and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all this day as you part with a wonderful man for a while. you will meet him again on that beautiful shore where pain is no more. I lived next door to Aunt Dora for years and got to see Wilf a lot as he visited with all of you to Aunt Dora. A pleasant wonderful man with a smile for everyone.

I had the pleasure of working with Wilf for many years at the Dept. of Forestry . Wilf was so respected by all of us and had such a wonderful sense of humour. He will never be forgotten! My sincere condolences to all the Family.
