William Joseph Hand

February 22, 1949 to February 20, 2021

Obituary

Passed peacefully away on Saturday February 20th, 2021 just 2 days shy of his 72nd birthday, William Joseph Hand (Feb 22, 1949) of St. John’s, NL.

Predeceased by his father JB Hand and brother Jim (Margie)

Left with many happy memories are his wife Margo (nee Stewart), son Graham (girlfriend Rachel Millan), son Mitchell (girlfriend Hillary Furlong). His mother Alice (nee Maddigan), siblings Debbie (Staley), Len (Tina), Denise, Barb (Bob), Tom (Christine), Fred (Marlene), his mother-in-law Lestra Stewart and countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Also, his daughter Tiffany and son Billy.

Bill will be fondly remembered by his Air Canada co-workers during his 22-year career in Montreal, Halifax and St. John’s and also by the many truckers and delivery drivers he got to know during his time in the warehouse at JB Hand & Sons.

Bill was always known as a pleasant, friendly, easy going guy that everyone loved and respected. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family, especially sitting on the deck at the cabin in Seal Cove or down river in Gander. Having a beer, listening to the water hit the shore & watching planes fly overhead.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr Mikael Truskaloski and the staff of E2A & N2A at the Waterford hospital for their compassionate care of Bill and to Vicki Doyle NP and the wonderful staff of 2NW Pleasantview Towers for the time he spent with them.

Our hearts are broken but we are relieved that he is no longer tormented and finally at peace. Due to the COVID regulations, there will be no service and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the SPCA or the Alzheimer’s Association of NL.

We will miss & love him forever & always.
