Wilson Garfield (Gary) Cooper

July 20, 1939 to April 16, 2021

Obituary

Wilson Garfield Cooper (Gary) passed peacefully away after a long battle with COPD April 16, 2021 in the presence of his loving family at 81 years of age.  Leaving to mourn with memories to last a lifetime: loving wife of 63 years, Marjorie, who always came first in his eyes; sons Gary (Sandra), Cal, Derrick (Elizabeth); daughter Debbie (Lloyd); grandchildren Tina, Tiffany, Brittany (all Pop’s girls), Angie (Dan), Tammy (Brian), Lloydie (Jovonah); great-grandchildren who he loved to watch grow up: Brady (Shannon), Ethan, Emily, Ryan, Brooklyn, Grayson – he loved them all; and Oreo, his furry friend.

Poppy was known for his humour and joking around, always had something to say. He was always a hard-working man, and didn’t believe in wasting money.  As age crept up on him, it hardly slowed him down, he refused defeat.  Always joking and yelling was what he was known for, no back doors at all.  He was good to everyone, never see you stuck.  And then there’s his car.  Spic and span, nothing less, done only by him.  He simply loved to drive.  “C’mon Marge we goes for a run.” He would say.  He will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.  They just don’t make them like Poppy anymore.  Our gratitude to the staff of ICU for the kindness and compassion shown to him in his final days.

Cremation has taken place.

Not goodbye but until we meet again.

We’re sure you’re driving the shiniest car in heaven.

So sad to hear about Gary!! ???? I have many great childhood memories with The Coopers! He was always joking around and his humor was infectious! I will always remember how kind he was and included me in many camping trips with Tina or Sunday drives.. As an adult, I will certainly miss him roaring at me from a parking spot as I’m walking out of supermarket, we would have a big ol chat and laugh on how he would frighten the crap out of me every time!! He would get such a laugh out of that!! Such a sweet kind soul!! Rip Gary!!! ????
