Dear Gus and family, I’m so sorry for the sadness and void that you all must feel having had to say goodbye to Winona. I can only imagine the love that was surrounding her in these last weeks.
While Winona was a cousin, (our grandparents were siblings) it wasn’t til this past July that I really got to know the remarkable woman that she was. Her and my mom shared a room at the Health Science for 1 1/2 weeks and of course Winona was the one who made the connection after only one day because of her genuine interest in people. We had several wonderful conversations and many chuckles. I quickly learned that she was a woman of great faith and she loved her family tremendously. I was so saddened to learn of her recent illness and so shocked to learn she had passed. How I would have loved to have had another chat with her…
Gus, I was also happy to have gotten to know you a little when you were visiting Winona. A devoted love for sure that I know was reciprocated.
As my mom Mable would say, “God Bless.”
