Just saw that Penny had died. So sorry I missed her service. She was a wonderful woman with a kind and giving temperament. She taught me at Spencer and I grew up on her street and babysat her children when I was a teenager. She leaves a legacy of love and the best of human kindness.

Our condolences on the passing of our Brown Owl, Mrs. Crane. Kathy and I have pleasant memories of our Brownie meetings at your house on Sycamore Place. It is only after having children of our own that we can appreciate the dedication (and energy!) required to lead an active Brownie Pack while raising six small children. Mrs. Crane was a role model to us all.

Deepest sympathy to the Crane family.

Joan, Janet, Jim and family – I am deeply saddened to learn of your Mom’s passing. Penny and Norm were steadfast friends of my parents, (and supporters of mine) and I have many, many fond memories of gatherings of family and friends at which they were the ‘life of the party’. In later years, I also know that Fred very much appreciated and enjoyed the Saturday evening dinners cooked and hosted by Penny, and especially Jim’s driving services during the winter months which enabled he and Babs and others to attend. My thoughts are with you all and I very much share in your loss.

We were sorry to hear about the passing of a wonderful Provincial Commissioner. Penny was very fondly thought about as she was met by thousands of Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers all over our Province. May she rest in peace.

Dear Joan and Daphne,
I was so sorry to read of your mother’s passing. She was a wounderful woman with so much to give to her family and the community. I use to see her walking in the last few years around the our area and she looked so spry.

Much sympathy to the family of Mrs Penny Crane, never an easy time to loose someone especially your Mother: the last of your Parents, but together as a family you will get through it, oh my goodness you must have had a pretty happy active family with your Mother , I remember being a Girl Guide and what made is fun was your Mom , she was one of a kind, always smiling, always ready to give give give to one and all, I really felt it was an honor to know such a strong woman, she knew what had to be done and did it, I would say she never left anything undone. Well God bless her soul and God bless her family, because of her the world was such a beautiful place. Violet- Squires Linehan.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. Mrs. Crane was a wonderful lady who was loved and admired by many. I know she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her..

I have many fond memories of Penny especially during her time as Provincial Commissionar of the Girl Guides. Her visits to Central Newfoundland were eagerly anticipated. Penny was a delight to have in our home and to accompany to the many Brownie Packs, Guide Companys and Ranger Groups. Her love of Guiding and the girls in the Organization was obvious. As you mourn her passing and celebrate her life may the peace of Our Lord be with all her family and friends. Love and Blessings.

So sad to hear of the passing of Mrs. Crane. Condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Crane’s passing she was a great lady ; My sisters and I loved going to Guide meetings and camp with her; what fun we had at camp each summer.

Joan & Crane family

Penny was a lady full of life, energy and love for all. I fondly remember her in Guiding, she hiked into to Camp Tuckmore (now Pippy Park) which was not an easy task at the time. I was nervous because she was there to observe me for my Camping License but upon her arrival with her smile and the wave of her hand telling me not to worry just do your thing. I have admired her to this day and have thought about her often. Because of Penny’s kindness and encouragement, I stayed in Guiding for 32 years. Your Mom was a wonderful lady, may you all be given God’s Blessing through the coming days and months.

Deepest Sympathy to all the family, our prayers and thoughts are with you all at this sad time.Marie n Jim Dicks
