POSTED BY THE GREELEY FAMILY ON BEHALF OF DEBBIE AND BARRY MYERS. Thank you for you kind words and we also wish you were here but you know how he would feel about that. We all know there was a special place in his heart for you to.

Barb, I’m sorry I couldn’t be with you and your wonderful family as you pay tribute to one of the finest people I’ve ever known. From my earliest memories Sandy was part of our lives, making sure we were alright. Holding our hand in times of sorrow, like when dad died and taking part in all celebrations. Barb has the tapes to prove it! Sandy not only looked after us but he came to the rescue of hundreds. We just called 911 Sandy.

Sandy was beyond a special friend, he was a father to me and even after he married, Barb treated me like I was one of their own. Sandy was also a great teacher and an expert carpenter who taught me more than I learned in trades school. Sandy could do wiring, plumbing, electrical and could fix anything and in fact, some said he could put an __________ in a cat! Sandy helped no matter when you called and he was such fun to be around. He worked hard no matter how he was feeling and he never complained, even after falling off a ladder he was still pleasant! Sandy also had a peculiar sense of humor and for some reason loved to make me the victim of his practical jokes. This tradition will no doubt be continued!

Everyone knows all Sandy could do in a boat and his love of rowing was incredible, inspiring so many. He is a legend whose stories will continue. Besdides Quidi Vidi, he wanted Portugal Cove to have its own regatta. The role he and his family played in creating the Portugal Cove Regatta is a tribute to him. These memories will keep us all going, old buddy, as we see you off. There’ll be a special place just for you at the Portugal Cove Regatta. God Bless.

Aunt Barb, and All the family,
Sending lots of love your way through this difficult time. Though I wasn’t close with Uncle Sandy, I do know that he was a kind, loving, and funny man. He was man that I admired for all of his hard work, his dedication to his family, and his love for the Regatta. His passion for the pond was overreaching and I can imagine he’s already gathering a crew and is starting up another Regatta in heaven.
My sincere apologies that I am unable to make it home to his funeral, but know that I am thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers.

Love and hugs,
Rebecca

Sandra, Brenda and Greeley family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

My sincerest condolences to the Greeley family. I had the pleasure of knowing Sandy a little more then I probably would have just through family. For my very first year rowing he brought our team to the finish line in 1st place. I’ll never forget that day, his enthusiam, experience, love for the sport and almost his teeth came through that boat like he owned it. I was very proud, not only for winning, but to stand beside the man that everyone came to know as one of the best coxswains at Quidi Vidi. I hope your family finds peace and joy in the many stories and memories each person will share with you over the next while about their time with Sandy. May he rest in peace.

Sandy you were a great man who left a good mark on alot of people with your knowledge. The 4-5 years i worked at Murrays i got to know the great man you were, it has been a pleasure knowing you. You will be sadly missed.
