Obituary

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, on November 2nd, 2017, Audrey Elizabeth Green, RN,  (nee Downing), aged 97 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Edward (Ted) Green, parents James and Elizabeth Downing, sister Eileen Thistle, and brother Sidney Downing. Left with fond and loving memories her loving son David; daughter Elizabeth Green (Glenn Hamlyn); grandchildren, Christina, Robert (Angela), Allison, and Joanna; great-grandchildren, Audrey, and Eliza; sister, Joan Downing; niece, Elizabeth (Jack) Glover; and a large circle of other family and special friends. Audrey graduated as an RN from the Homoeopathic Hospital, in Montreal, nursing class of 1945. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. The family will receive visitors on Monday, November 6th, 2017 from 2 – 4 p.m & 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 at 2 p.m, with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Audrey’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Auntie Audrey is a caring and compassionate woman and always full of good cheer. She has an amazing life and is lucky to have her family right next door. Literally. She lived through the World War, advancement of personal automobiles, technology, personal cell phone addiction, and social media. She has always been the foundation of her family and will always be loved and cherished through those that knew her. I raise my glass to you Audrey, for a cheers to celebrate your amazing life.

I have just learnt of the loss of your Mom, and I can only imagine the sorrow that you must be feeling…I remember Mrs. Green as an amazing woman with a radiant personality who made me feel so welcome in her home. She was often in my thoughts, as she most certainly is today.
