Obituary
It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we convey the passing of our sweet daughter and sister Chelsea, who passed on Wednesday, March 8,2017 at the age of 19 years. Chelsea made the lives of everyone she knew a little brighter. She is now safe in the arms of her loving Daddy Bill who passed away almost 11 years ago. Predeceased by her grandparents Harold and Thelma Somerton, grandfather Joseph Moss, uncles Alfred and Harold (Fern), aunt Deborah (Fred). She leaves to mourn her mommy Tammy (Glen) and her loving brother Kenneth, grandmother Barbara, aunts Elsie, Nancy, Carol (Al), Fern (late Harold) and Deborah (late Andy) uncles Ray (Denise), Joe (Yvonne), Grant (Cheryl), Gordon (June), Fred (late Deborah) as well as a large circle of friends, family and fur babies, Zoey, Muffin and Stewy. Special thank you to family friends Kenneth and Tracy Turner and Holly Somerton, for helping us through this difficult time. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Rd. on Friday from 3-9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m.– 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. A Funeral service will be held on Sunday March 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. at St. Lawrence Anglican church, with interment in the parish cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be made to Canadian Mental Health Association.

I never knew Chelsea but some of my guide leaders did. We talked about what a sunny person she was. We are sorry for your loss.

Tammy & Kenneth, words seem so inadequate to express the sorrow that is felt in our hearts. I could not imagine what you are going through. May you find strength in the love of family and friends as you go on without your precious baby girl Chelsea. I often ask “Why God” when I don’t understand, but take comfort in that one day I will know why. I know all your questions will be answered one day. You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. I genuinely regret your loss. I hope that in due time your family receives God’s peace that excels all thought, so that it will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. God is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. Rest assured that God cares for all his creatures and he would never bring us suffering. A soothing scripture I like is Psalm 34:18 which reads: “Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” He promised that in the Paradise, we will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all problems, accidents, and sickness. Even our dead loved ones like Chelsea will be resurrected. (Psalm 37:9, 29; John 5:28, 29) With all my sympathy for the loss of someone so dear.
Tammy & Kenneth, Words cannot express how we feel with the loss of such a beautiful young woman. We cannot imagine what you are both going through. Chelsea was such a big part of our lives, especially Victoria, Our thought and prayers are with you. We love you Chelsea. Until we meet again beautiful girl.

Although I did not know Chelsea. I have a daughter two years younger than her. So I can say as a fellow mom how sorry I am for your loss, Also as a fellow Portugal Cove child who also suffers with mental illness myself that it’s a sad and hard thing to go through. You and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers at this hard time and in the following days as you try to somewhat go on without your little girl. Mental Health is not focused on in our society as it should be and that’s sad. There are to many young people dying because they don’t know where or who to turn to some afraid of being ridiculed. Again you are forever in my thoughts and in my prayers. May Chelsea fly high with the angels tonight at peace. God bless you all.
