Obituary

Janes, Colin Walter, P. Eng. – Our beloved husband and father passed peacefully away on Thursday, June 9th, 2016 at the age of 63. Originally from Corner Brook, Colin was a dedicated member of Bally Haly Country Club as well as a loyal, long-time employee of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), and more recently, Harbourside Engineering Consultants (HEC). Colin was predeceased by father William (Bill), mother Hilda and brother Allan. Leaving to mourn his devoted and loving wife of 38 years Beverley (nee Williams), daughter Laura (Jonathan), son Michael, brothers Brian (Debby), Derek (Heidi) and Errol (Joanne) as well as sisters-in-law Bernice and Betty. Fondly remembered by special nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of close friends and colleagues. Colin was full of life and was a mentor and friend to many. Much of his life was spent lifting people up. In his final days, Colin was surrounded by family and friends where he showed courage, grace and an everlasting sense of humour. The family wish to express a special thank you to the ALS Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and to the many health care professionals who provided support to Colin over the past five years. Your knowledge, care and compassion helped him adapt to the many losses he experienced throughout his illness. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday and Monday, June 12th and 13th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Logy Bay Road, Tuesday, June 14th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. Bev, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband, Colin. Knowing you, and hearing from mutual friends about his illness, I know that he received the very best, and very loving nursing care. I hope that your wonderful memories of Colin and the support and love of family and your many friends are helping you deal with the loss of such a wonderful husband.
