Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of David, our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and best friend in Victoria B.C. following a tragic car accident on June 9, 2018, aged 46. David is survived by his loving wife Justine Tilley, parents Ruth and Bruce Tilley, Brother John (Nancy) and their son Stephen, Brothers in-law Duncan O’Mahony (Shandalin) and their son Cormac in Chilliwack B.C., Quentin O’Mahony (Kaoru) and their sons Brendan and Lliam in Tokyo, Japan. Mother in-law Olive O’Mahony (Justin – deceased) of Abbotsford B.C. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of family and friends in Newfoundland and British Columbia. A memorial service is being held in Abbotsford, B.C. on Saturday June 16. Friends and Family in Newfoundland are welcome to attend visitation on Friday June 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s. Funeral to be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Military Road, Saturday June 23 at 2:30 p.m. Donations in David’s memory graciously accepted for the Brain Tumor Association https://www.braintumour.ca/6915/donate-now ; or Mothers Against Drunk Driving https://madd.ca/donation/donation-english.html.

While I haven’t seen David recently, I have known him a long time. We went all through school together and grew up together in Cowan Heights. I fondly recall epic street hockey games that lasted into the night on Ferryland St. He was a big kid with a kind heart. Was saddened to hear the news and wanted to pass on my sincere condolences to family and friends.

I didn’t know Dave for long but the impact he had on my life will never be forgotten. He was one of the kindest, funniest, supportive, and friendliest people I’ve ever met. He was not only the best boss I have had the privilege of working for but he was also a friend. He always put us first and that is just a testament to the kind of person he was.

Dave was the best. He challenged his team to be and to do better but always provided a guiding hand. I’ll miss our coffee runs and hockey chats, and how you treated everyone you met the same way. You were my mentor and my friend and I’ll miss you.

I am so happy that we did keep in touch in later years as well when I lived Abbotsford. I only ran into Dave at a Canucks game in 2016 and we had such an awesome chat catching up. Dave, John & myself had a lot of fun (years ago) when you guys would come to Healey’s Cove for your weekend cabin trips.
