Obituary
Passed away suddenly in her home on Saturday, February 27, 2021, Deborah Lynn Hillyard (nee Vail), aged 65 years.
Predeceased by her grandparents, Frederick and Amelia Vail, Selby and Elsie Thistle; father, William Vail; brother, Roger Vail; father-in-law, William Hillyard; son Bradley William and infant daughter.
Left with loving memories, her husband Gary; son Jeffrey (Natasha) and treasured grandsons, Philip and David; daughter Terri Lynn (Joshua); mother Ruth Vail; brother Rob Vail (Donna); sister-in-law Gale Vail; mother-in-law Jessie Squires and a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Special mention to her lifelong Rabbittown friends and close aunt, Glenys Quinn.
The family would like to thank her medical team, Dr. Mark Porter, Dr. Brad Hayley, and Dr. Erin Powell. Also, first responders: CBS Fire Department, Eastern Health paramedics, Furey’s Ambulance; and especially neighbours Mark Dalton, Keisha Conway-Hussey and R.J. Hussey.
Visitation for the late Lynn Hillyard will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 to 9 pm.

Gary and family we were so shocked to hear about Lynn’s passing. I know we haven’t spoken in a while but we still have so many fond memories of our trip together and our chats at the yacht club. Shopping with Lynn was one of highlights of the trip for me. We had so much fun. Her love for you,Jeff and Terri Lynn was evident whenever she spoke about you. Saddened by this news of Lynn’s sudden passing. We met back in the early eighties when we played cards together. Over the years, we’d meet now and again, trying to catch up with family stuff ….. while having a laugh and a carry-on for good measure; many times it was at the H.S.C., Lynn rushing to an appointment, me hurrying to get back to the office. Her infectious smile and sunny disposition endeared her to everyone. Always so easy-going …… always a pleasure. Sincere condolences to her entire family. Take care to all.

I fondly remember Lynn. When we were classmates at Blackall Elementary we would write notes back and forth to each other because our Moms were expecting at the same time.
Lynn ended up with a brother and I ended up with a sister.
I ran into Lynn when she owned a shop in Churchill Square. I was home from NB and popped in there for something. I recognized her immediately and we had a great chat and laugh.
