To the Facey family,

Mrs. Facey was such a beautiful soul. It was a pleasure to sit down with her and talk about her father and her own experiences growing up in St. John’s, and I was always excited for the opportunity. It was not uncommon when leaving the office for me to remark that I would be a couple of hours, because I knew a cup of tea and some sort of sweet treat was in my future, as well as engaging and lovely conversation. The forget-me-not pin that she gave me at the exhibit opening is truly precious to me, and one I wear every July 1st. She and her smile will be missed.

Anthea, Michael & Family;

So sad to have learned of the passing of one of the most gracious ladies I have ever known.  She warmly gave one thousand thank you’s, accompanied by a smile, in exchange for the most minimal assistance. Ms. Facey was always positive & absolutely delightful. She will be forever heard in the hearts of many expressing: “Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you, My Love.”❤

I endearingly referred to her as “the lady of 100 dresses!” Ms. Facey wore the most colourful, pretty, patterned dresses with matching cardigans EVERYday! Each time she was complimented, she would reply: “I’m an old lady and old ladies are supposed to wear black and other dark colours…but I like  bright colours!” (Therein laid our personal connection-loving and wearing all the colours of the rainbow.)

Ms. Facey also had a great sense of humour; she shared her wit with everyone who met her. It was a pleasure & a privilege to engage with her…she shared many a-funny tale both in recent times and times gone by. One of her most funny exchanges was when she would respond to her doctor, following his reassurance to her: “That’s ok My Love…I’m just an old woman, I know my parts are  wearing out…” And she would proceed by thanking him profusely as well…

She was a kind, fun-loving lady who adored her family. She has left them with so many precious, tender memories…may those memories help them through their loss…& may she eternally RIP

Mrs. Facey was an extraordinary Christian lady. Caring and maternal, she was exceedingly kind to us when we first came to the cathedral over twenty years ago. She will never be forgotten or replaced. It is not an exaggeration to say that she was a saint.

Thinking of you all at this time , the beautiful memories you all have of your mom will keep her alive with you all .
God Bless you all .

We send our love to you all at this most significant moment for your family. We remember Doreen as such a special person – a lady of conviction and determination yet someone with warmth and compassion. We so value that she was such a good sister in law to Pat – the thought of them being close together in a new dimension makes us all smile!
We will be with you tomorrow in thought and prayer, knowing that there are bonds that hold us, even beyond death.

Anthea and family. My sincere condolences to you all. Your mother was a lovely lady, and Carl and I will be forever grateful for the kindness she showed us. We will never forget all the rides to the swimming pool and all her other kindnesses. She was truly a gem. We are all blessed to have had someone like her in our lives. I know she will rest in peace.

To Anthea, Michael and all your family. The passing of your mother comes with sadness and comfort. Sadness that she is gone and comfort to know that she is with her Lord. To The Facey Family,
We are so sad to hear of your mom’s ( grand-mom’s) passing. I remember her well and the many chat’s we have had over the years — especially at the Cathedral crypt where she was so often found as one of hosts serving ‘tea’ at special clergy gatherings.
The last time I saw her and chatted briefly with her was at St. Thomas’ Church where she and some family members were attending a funeral. It was such a pleasure knowing her . I am sure she will certainly be well missed!
As we say farewell to her- may I quote our ‘Lord’s’ own words (somewhat in a different context, but suited for her:)
“Well done you good and faithful servant,—-enter now into the joy of your Lord.”
(Matt. 25:23)

Anthea, Hugh, Richard and all the family;

We were so sad to hear of your Mother’s/ Grandmother’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Your Mom was forever kind. She constantly smiled and said hello to everyone. She attended lots of weddings at the Cathedral, including mine. Of course, I was in the back of the church, getting ready to go up the aisle and my train got tangled up. In her usual calm and motherly fashion she left her seat, untangled the train, said “That’s ok, dear. take a deep breath. You will be fine.” I took a deep breath and started the long walk with Mom up the aisle. She knew just what to say. She will be missed by all those who had the privilege to meet her.

Dear Nick and Family;

Chris and Facey family,

Sorry to hear the news about your Mother. May you have comfort in knowing that you have family and friends who share your sorrow.

my deepest sympathy

My condolences to Anthea, Chris, Nigel, Nicholas, and Timothy.

When I think of growing up in St. John’s, trudging back and forth to Feild, across Empire Avenue or taking a shortcut down Sycamore Place, Mrs. Facey seemed always there. She was a part of the city as I knew it, and her quiet persistence in getting things done for school, for the Cathedral, for her family added immeasurably to its life. The place feels thinner now, less substantial with her passing.

So sorry to hear of your loss Chris. I’m thinking of you and your family at this very difficult time.

Thank you and good-bye “Grandma” Facey.

So sad to think we won’t see Mrs. Facey sitting in her place at the Cathedral of a Sunday morning. She was one of the first to welcome us and our “babes in buckets” when we joined the congregation almost 7 years ago. Please accept our deepest sympathies at this sad time and know that we will be thinking of you all as you celebrate her long and beautiful life. Much Love.
