Douglas Francis Yetman

March 16, 1941 to June 28, 2021

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear father, Douglas Yetman, on June 28, 2021. Predeceased by his wife, Bride; parents, Stuart and Evelyn Yetman; son-in-law Gerard English; and sister Pamela Yetman.

Leaving to celebrate his life with cherished memories are his devoted daughters: Heather (Glenn Petten), Michelle, and Laurie (Kevin Redmond); his grandchildren: Caelan, Shannon, Braeden, Jenessa, Kyle and Renee; brothers and sisters: Stuart (Shirley), Alec (June), Hilda, Rosalie, and Chuck (Diane); and his in-laws: Alice, Leonard (Angela), Don (Irene), Josephine, Dorothy (Bill), Audrey (Bernard) and David (Wendy).

Doug lived a wonderful, full life and was totally devoted to his family. He enjoyed sports, his cabin in Deer Park and his vegetable gardening. Some of the light dissipated with the passing of his soulmate and we gain comfort knowing they are together again.

Cremation has taken place at Doug’s request. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday July 3, 2021 from 10-12 pm and 1:30-4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Doug’s name can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.

the cement that binds closer together,

and the music that brings harmony.

Sending you all the most sincere of condolences on the passing of your Dad. Thinking of you all.

Heather, Michelle, Laurie and Families.
I was so shocked and saddened to hear of your dads death. I am just finding out today. I could say so much about your dad. He was so very very special to me. He hired me at White, Ottenheimer and Green when I was just 18 years old. He took me under his wing and was there for me no matter what I went to him for. He was amazing at what he did and he was loved by everyone.
His family meant the world to him and I know ye have so many great memories of him that will bring a huge smile to your face.
I am thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Lisa Baggs ( Jamieson )

I have many great memories of Doug while he worked with White, Ottenheimer and Baker. May he rest in peace

That picture of Doug says a lot. The wonderful greeting you always got when meeting Doug, and his general attitude throughout the day.. I knew of Doug first through his sports accomplishments, then as our accountant and title searcher when I started my Articles in one firm, and then our long association as our Office Manager in another.. Always the gentleman,
always a pleasure to deal with, he will be missed. Regards to all in his extended family.

Alex and Doug’s family. I was out of town over the week-end and only just learned about Doug’s passing. He was a great teammate on the Feildian soccer team that won the provincial championship in Grand Bank in 1964. I didn’t know him well but like him a lot.

Your dear sweet father was my friend for over 40 years and helped me in more ways than I could possibly express in a message of condolence. Suffice to say that our relationship provided ample opportunity for me to appreciate what each of you, and later his grandchildren, meant to him. I miss him already and cannot imagine your sense of loss at his unexpected passing.

Heather and family, please know we are thinking of you. May the many happy memories of your dad help you through this time. Sincere condolences to those he loved, and those who loved him.

Doug has been a part of my entire life and I feel blessed. My earliest memory begins with Doug and Bride opening their home to me as a small child where I’d make the exciting trip to St.Johns to spend a week at their house on Lester Street. From there, he would take the entire brood of us to Deer Park where we would spend time in the lake. To this day the smell of mulch and Irish Spring soap reminds me of that time in my life. Fast forward to my University days where he opened up his home and welcomed me in to live with them while I studied. During that time, I was having some health problems and I recall Doug doing his weekly Friday grocery shopping and making sure I had what I needed. During this time, I was having some medical testing done and In preparation I could only eat gelatin – Doug so thoughtfully made this for me which was a gesture that I never forgot. It’s the smaller gestures, the kind words, the welcoming feeling that he extended to all of us that will be his legacy. My condolences to the entire family and I hope knowing that he made a difference in so many lives grants you some comfort .

Heather, Michelle and Laurie, condolences to your family during this very sad time. It is such a loss to lose a parent and I know you were all very close. You sad was a wonderful person Thinking of you all, and sending love and strength..

All my prayers for the family

Heather, Michelle , Laurie and familes,

I was very saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. I worked with Doug for many years and greatly admired his devotion to whatever he put his hand or energies to, whether his firm, his friends , his Red Wings and especially his family. His quick smile and pleasant personality made him a pleasure to be around. He leaves a wonderful legacy of a life well lived and I pray that you take some comfort in that.
May God bless you all,
